Had a really lovely, interesting tour of Goodwood House, followed by a cream tea. The ladies who do the tour guide are so well informed, and at the end you are waited on by first class waiters serving you a substantial cream tea, thank you, enjoyed the experience.
Located in glorious Sussex countryside- no wonder it is called 'Glorious Goodwood' - this is a reminder of better times and a classier age.On a summer's day no better place to be......there is even a cricket pitch with suitable rural pavilion.
Visit the beautiful home that is Goodwood House, lovely lived in House with loads of history, spoil yourself with afternoon tea with home made scones fresh from the kitchen all served by the butlers on beautiful crested table ware, well worth a visit, very peaceful and lots of info given by the guides. Go on treat yourselves for a cosy treat for two.
This was my 3rd visit to the festival of speed great day lots to see and do well worth a visit if you like cars 1 day is not enough after 3 years I still have not seen everything
Was looking forward to visiting Goodwood House. However, although the house itself is very impressive was disappointed with the overall visiting experience. We were given a map of the rooms but had to ask which was the best way to go round the house. The only rooms open to see are on the ground floor. There are leaflets in each room giving some information on the history and items in it. After viewing the house we enquired about the gardens to which we were told there was a guided tour lasting 50 minutes. We said is it possible to view on our own to which we were told yes but would not get to see certain areas. We were not told what areas of the garden were included in the tour and which ones we would not see if did not go on it. We decided to do gardens on our own. There do not appear to be any formal gardens. Although Goodwood House sits in large grounds it is mainly grass and trees. In our opinion there is insufficient signage in the house and in the grounds. Even leaving the car park it did not say which exit to take. We went to go out same way we came in and found there was no exit that way and ended up going out onto an unknown road to us. Very disappointed - one visit was enough would not go again.
Everything you would imagine ... Glamorous ... Regal ... Steeped in history. If you are lucky enough to have a corporate event here and get to sample the local produce you will absolutely love it.
This is about the 5th time we've visited the FoS and it continues to set standards matched only by the Goodwood revival. All era's and genres of the motoring world are represented here, rallying, formula one, classic cars, concours displays, motorbikes, vintage, classic and modern supercars and as a bonus superb air displays, certainly great value considering what's on offer. If you are just a day visitor expect to see about a third of what's here and a couple of tips, a) plan out beforehand what you most want to see - you CAN"T see it all in a day and b) travel light as heavy camera bags and picnic hampers slow you down as the day wears on and in the end inhibits seeing all you want to.Lastly a word of commendation to the support staff, even the hard working car park attendants look like they enjoy their job and are proud to be part of the event.
Waaaaahoooooooo!!!Even the missus is now a Petrol Head!!!.....3 day event and thought I would see all in one day.wrong.!You get see and touch Cars from the past and the future and see them race.Rally cars.race cars ,Historical. s the lot.Red arrows flew over and the latest fighter aircraft.Really pleased we went to this well organized event.Stunt cars were great and the appearance of famous drivers past and present.
Like: Elegant venue and good serviceDislike: Pheasant was not cooked properly for three out of four of our party - very average.
This visit gave us the opportunity to visit somewhere linked to Waterloo a subject we have been interested in for a while. The place is packed with art treasures of all descriptions and has a very grand tea served in the actual Regency Ballroom. Be warned the afternoon tea options are not cheap. We found the staff of the house to be very approachable and knowledgeable.
