Dear John,Thank you very much for letting us know about your experience. While we’re thrilled that you had a great round on our course, we’re extremely disappointed that your day ended in the manner you describe. We will certainly look into this and will address the matter with our employee. In the meantime, we ask you to contact John Anderes, our Director of Golf and Grounds at janderes@mdgolf.com so we can make this right. We appreciate your loyalty to our course and want to make sure that you return to Queenstown Harbor and always feel welcome here.Thank you again for your visit, and we apologize for this negative experience. It won’t happen again.
Little doubt that this is one of the nicest public courses in Maryland. Very well maintained with an interesting but somewhat traditional at times layout. The buffer ares between the course and the Chester river keep you well away from the waters edge....no doubt the views arn't any different if you were closer but honestly I was disappointed that the course didn't incorporate the "river" more. There are a few forced carries over marshland but they are not excessive from the middle tees. The staff was friendly and attentive... Surprisingly there was no gps on the carts....something that could have aided in speeding up play
the courses are in very good shape. The price is reasonable. The people take great care of you from the monent you arrive and while you are there. Example, played on a very hot day. On the back nine the "Assistant" brought wet towels out to us.
Queenstown Harbor has 2 Courses (Lakes & River). The River Course is expensive, but the view of the Bay is amazing. What makes this place an Excellent destination to play a round of Golf, is its people. The Staff will make your round enjoyable. When you are done, the Outlet Mall is across from the Course, and within 15 minutes are some fantastic seafood restaurants, for those visiting the region looking for a great Crab Cakes sandwich or Steamed Crabs.
This course has beautiful views, a very fun layout, challenging pin locations and was in great shape. It is a convenient day trip out of Washington DC and well worth the greens fees (plus the cost of the Bay Bridge Toll). I played as part of a golf tournament and I would recommend this as a great golf tournament venue as the food, service, pace of play and venue were all great.
We had opportunity to play both the Lakes and River courses in September 2009. The weather was perfect and the courses both interesting and scenic with enough variety for golfers of all abilities. The ecological areas were teaming with beautiful plant and bird species, and being on the Chesapeake Bay was a treat. Pro shop was well stocked, short on items for Women though.
The golfing in and of itself is excellent. Both courses are beautiful and are always in excellent condition. If you can only play one round though, pay the extra money and play the River course. Many of its holes have absolutely stunning views of the Chester river / Chesapeake Bay that make the extra money seem well spent. There is lots of wildlife on the course to enjoy, from deer, to many kinds of birds, including a bald eagle we saw flying around multiple times one day, and I've even seen a wild turkey and fox. If that's not enough you can see downtown Baltimore on a clear day and a sign on one of the holes helps you to envision what it must have looked like on the evening our star spangled banner was written. The course is challenging, as it's longer than the Lakes course, forcing the player to think their way through versus just blasting away all the time, which for me adds to the experience. I've always appreciated how well conditioned the course is, from the tee boxes to the fairways and greens. Facilities are well kept and clean. The staff is welcoming and professional.I've played golf in many places around Maryland and beyond. Simply put, I would put this course up against any other, it's just that good.
2 beautiful courses. A more challenging course called the River with holes along the Chester River near the mouth at the Chesapeake bay and the Lakes course which is not quite as difficult. They offer some good deals for afternoon and off season play which make it more affordable for frequent play. My opinion, one of the best courses in MD.
Queenstown Harbor offers the choice of two great 18-hole course - the Lakes and the River. The River is a bit more expensive, and you pay for the scenic views of the Chesapeake. Sister courses at Potomac Ridge and South River offer aditional golfing pleasures. Professionalism and customer service are the watchwords at Queenstown Harbor. You will love it!
We played the lakes course during a recent visit to the area. My husband has played most of his life, and I am a novice who has just gotten into golfing. We both agreed that it was one of our favorite courses. Everything is well thought out, from the starters to the map of the holes. The course is beautiful and you feel like one with nature. We saw a ton of wildlife and read that the course works with the Audubon Society to protect habitat. All of the little touches paid off here. The course was in perfect condition and each hole was challenging for both me as a novice and my husband. It was the perfect experience. My husband also commented that they had the best food he's ever had on a golf course. We mentioned at the pro shop that we had a special connection to the course and they encouraged us to look around after our round. If we make it back to the area I'm sure we will want to return.
