I've taken my 5-year-old to a few children's museums and was interested in this one because there was a lot of hype. It was a real disappointment from a children's museum perspective. The exhibits make very little attempt to be educational. However, if you are just looking to keep your young child (5 and under) busy for an hour or two, it is fine. Much of the museum is carpeted, and has a bit of a musty smell. Annual membership would probably be great for parents who have young children who are not enrolled in early educational or preschool preschool program since they can take them there often. There are areas for dramatic play, arts and crafts and building (no legos, just big foam blocks). I don't think the $7 admission fee is worth it, and am glad that I paid the Groupon price. I most likely will not be taking my child there again since there is very little educational value and therefore is not worth the trip.
Good Museum lots to see. My daughter enjoyed the museum we will visit again. Parking was good and admission was not to bad. Very reasonable
Good place if you have an hour or two to kill. I would recommend it for children 6 and under. My 7 year old was not impressed except with the arts and crafts area. It does get quite crowded because it is so small, and unfortunately not all parents supervise their children so you have to watch that the younger ones are safe and have a turn to play with exhibits.
I got a deal for this place on Groupon so we took our two kids ages 4 and 6. It's a small place but it kept my kids busy for 3 hours. The water play area was my sons favorite while my daughter prefered the plexiglass wall painting area. Not sure what their regular price is but for $16 for my family of 4 it was a good buy!
I took my 2 year-old and infant to this place while visiting family in Sacramento. I would think for a city that size, their children's museum would be awesome. The "museum" is a shop in a business strip, not a stand-alone museum for kids. Tiny and expensive ... we had to pay admission for myself, my husband and my in-laws all for maybe 1.5 hours of entertainment for my daughter. So not worth it! Even Oklahoma has better children's museums ... come on, Sacramento!
We celebrated a birthday party here. They provide a room for an hour or so, allowing you to have some privacy to sing a Happy Birthday song, and afterwards the kids enjoyed the 'museum'. This is more a playground, with lots of educational toys. A great choice, not only for a birthday party but also to take your kids. Ages 2 - 10
This is fantastic to see and the kids have a ball. GO It is closed Sunday and Monday but a great time is had by all.
This museum did not have enough to interest my grandkids. It needed to have more older kids items.I guess we went on the off day.
There is just a ton of things to do such as crafts, dress up, play house, interactive displays and just play with new friends. The staff do a great job of keeping everything neat and keeping the kids busy.
Sacramento waited a long time for a Children's Museum, and this one doesn't disappoint. We purchased a membership last summer and will be renewing it. My 4yo and 1yo both enjoy visiting. There is an art area, a water play area, a dress-up area which my son really enjoys, and post office, market and play house areas great for pretend play. Lots more. Definitely worth a visit!
