I loved the spa. Like the resort, it was relaxing and cozy. I especially loved the spa products. I bought several coco butter bars and have used them all year.
Great sugar rub massage...with a view while you relax. Talented masseuse interested in your health and relaxation
We have stayed at big cedar numerous times. The grounds were just as beautiful as any other time we have stayed. But they charge a $5 fee per day for services like miniature golf, arcade and programs. Usually this is a great deal and have never minded paying it. But this time there were hardly any programs scheduled during our stay. The miniature golf was torn out being replaced. The arcade and lazy river were closed. If all the things that you are charging for are not usable then I don't feel I should have to pay for them. The room was amazing and clean as always. And the bed was so soft I think they got new ones since our last stay. Even though we were disappointed about nothing bring opened we enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return!
The best massage I've ever had! My husband had his at the same time and felt exactly as I did!
The beds were horrible. No maid service and a pressure sales presentation. We did have a lovely view of the next tall building in front of the one where we were lodged.
I have celebrated my January birthday here several times. The always go out of their was to make me happy. We always get one of the cabins for the privacy it affords. We enjoyed hearing the live music in the lounge. The spa was good when I used it. The horse and buggy was nice as well. It is a great place in the off season when I want to get away from the city. This is my review in general for the Big Cedar Lodge.
it was great! we went to the spa rather than having the spa come to our room.
We wouldn't dream of staying at Big Cedar without also scheduling spa appointments. We've always gone to the Lakeside Spa, but there's another spa near the main check-in area also. The quality of the technicians always has been top-notch over the years, delivering services that never skimp on a thing in a relaxing atmosphere. We especially recommend the facials for men or women. The cost is high, but if you're staying at Big Cedar look for regular specials.
I spent a day in the Spa at Big Cedar with three friends. The spa has only been open 3 months, I think. The building is lovely, very woodsy and serene. There are separate areas for men and women and then a few areas for both. The ladies side has a very nice locker room, showers and such. There is, also, an area with a sauna, steam room and large hot tub. All the areas are decorated with stone and wood, just lovely. In the shared area, there is a Grotto with lounge chairs all about. I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage and a 75 minute facial. Both of the rooms where I had treatments had a fireplace and a wonderfully comfortable treatment table. Delightful! My massage was one of the best massages I have ever had. Jody was my therapist and was excellent! The people here are very nice. I hope to return and do it again some day!
The service in the spa is spectacular too bad I can't say the same about the spa itself. An old musty building that needs remodeling. There is a narrow, steep spiral staircase with extremely small steps which is the only access to upstairs treatment rooms. Roger the massage therapist that I was stuck with had no personality whatsoever. Even though I indicated the areas that I wanted to be massaged and repeatedly pointed to my shoulder he never took the "hint". The building needs some major maintenance. The therapist needs an attitude adjustment. The receptionist was soooo friendly and helpful. The price for treatments are extreme especially since you do not have the total spa experience. Would not go again.
