We love this course as there are absolutely no houses which is a bonus and the golf course itself is magnificent and challenging for all levels. It is always in fabulous condition with each hole more interesting than the last and the views are amazing. As reported previously in reviews there is no clubhouse but if you want to play an interesting course where you are tested on all aspects of your golf and at a reasonable rate then Vista Verde is for you. Certainly one of our favourites in the Scottsdale area and would recommend playing it before the next housing development is built in that area. One not to miss.
Good value for desert golf in Scottsdale area. New development under construction, so bulldozers on some holes. Hard to fin; entrance is not marked. Still, had a fun round of golf.
Got a late tee time at this desert course & had to finish in the dark because the pace was so slow. We waited on every shot & sometimes had several groups on the same hole. This is one of the three Verde courses in Rio Verde. This one is open to the public & the plan is to have homes surrounding it, but that hasn't happened yet. Play now with the unimpeded views of the desert, Four Peaks & other area mountains. The course was in great shape & has everything: elevation changes, undulating greens, lots of hazards & hidden danger. Make sure you know where you're going.
A great desert course that is well maintained, challenging and the scenery is spectacular! This course does not have food services yet so be warned before you go. There is no clubhouse either and all bathrooms on the course are porta potties. These things would not deter me from returning to play by any means but you need to be warned before you go. Book your times on-line directly with them at theverdes.com for very good rates and no booking charge.
As was said here before, this course is all about the golf and not about anything else. As a golf course, it's challenging, fun and scenic. It's in great shape and the greens are lightning. However, that's it. There are no amenities whatsoever. And the course workers, other than the check-in person, aren't friendly. If you go here, expect nothing other than a great golf course. And, at least to me, for resort golf to be fun, there needs to be a bit more.
Set in the Tonto National Forest with Four Peaks and other mountain ranges as a backdrop. There is not an official clubhouse so stop at the initial visitor center at 174th street on the north side of E Rio Verde Dr. Address is 17405 E Desert Vista Trail, Rio Verde, AZ. Parking lot is not paved. A small practice area includes putting and free range balls. There is a trailer outhouse and staff to assist. Bottled drinking water on ice in your cart. A beverage cart with food on site. Two portas on the course. Carts somewhat hesitant but get you from hole to hole. Take extra balls with you; green fairways, nicely kept greens, but plenty of desert. For a desert course, and it is a hike from the valley, playing Vista Verde is a value. Not a 4 rating, but perhaps 3.5.
This plays like a young course....some holes are difficult. We felt it was a bit too expensive for the service and quality.
Visa Verde was recently re-branded as the Tegavah Golf Club. The course is in a beautiful setting in the Mid-Sonoran desert near Rio Verde, AZ. The course offers some interesting challenges, yet is not unduly difficult. There are very few homes built around the course at this time, hence has the feel of a links style course. Overall, the course is in great shape. The club itself appears to be in temporary quarters, and offers few amenities. Little should be expected from the staff in the way of service. This is especially true of the course Marshall, who in our case proved to be incompetent.
For those true golfers this is a must play. Don't expect a clubhouse (there isn't one), restaurant (there isn't one) or flush toilets (porta potties). But, do expect a fantastic golf course. That is what you came to do isn't it. 5 sets of tees that range from 7300 to 5300 yards will provide a great challenge for anyone. The greens are mint, the fairways generous and lush. A well designed course. The few washes that cross the fairways are well placed and for the most part cleaned out, so that the option to play from them is available. Very scenic and pace of play was great. Well be playing this one again and again.
