The theater is wonderful to see--but you get to enjoy a Theater Production after enjoying a great meal in lovely Quaint Surroundings , Great Shows of all types-comedey's, Musicals, & more. Prices are very reasonable for the meal, show & ambiance.
This is a dinner playhouse. The dinner is a buffet style, and was ok. Not much of a verity. The performance was excellent. The waiters and waitresses do a 15-minute pre-show singing songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's. They were known as the Bootleggers. They were very good. The show we saw was: "Funny, you don't look like a grandmother." The show held your attention, the actors and actresses were excellent. A great show, and a great evening. The Circa' 21 theater is a historic place.
I try to visit this delightful dinner theatre on my holidays to Iowa. Great food and entertainment, with a second to none service. Wish they still had these kind of venues in the UK, sadly this is not the case. Well worth the visit.
We love the afternoon shows where they serve you at the table. The plays have been fantastic, the staff more than accommodating and prices are right
Love going to this old theater. Broadway quality plays and musicals. The food is not gourmet quality but average. The atmosphere and performance make this a winner.
Circa 21 never fails to provide high quality theatrical productions in our hometown. Through the years I have seen numerous plays and musicals in their theater ranging from big name shows, like "Cats" to lesser known shows that were created for off Broadway use. The professional performers that are brought in continue to improve with each season, and they enlist only the highest caliber of local talent. Their waitstaff are also performers and do a short song and dance revue for the pre-show. The quality of these "bootleggers" is often uneven, but they do perform with more than a bit of brashness and bravado. Through the years the food has ranged from poor to pretty good. It is served buffet style and it is difficult to maintain high quality in such a setting. I would ld highly recommend Circa 21 to any who is either visiting the Quad Cities or lives here.
Went with friends and had a wonderful time. Great performance and the food was wonderful. I have been there a few times and always enjoyable. Staff is part of the performing act. They get out there and hustle and make you feel very special. Anyone who has the time and enjoys live performances should take in Circa 21
They have several shows a year. They have some for kids around Christmas and then other musicals later in the year more geared for adults. The Bootleggers (waiters and waitresses ) also entertain each show. My favorite show has been The Church Bsmt Ladies.
This was our first time at Circa 21. The friends we went with have been several times and have always raved about it. We went to Les Miserables. Show was very good. Food was not. All the meat entrees had too much seasoning and they did not pair well together. This was Valentine's weekend so it was a disappointment. We had a better meal at Sirlon Stockade in Galesburg the next evening.
We were there Dec. 4th for a Thurs. Matinee. We saw White Christmas and it was excellent. I was with a group of senior citizens and several of us are diabetics. Couldn't you have had one meal choice that would have been easier for a diabetic? Sugary carrots was the only vegetable. Then, there was choice of turkey with a sugary glaze, or ham with a sugary glaze. Or pasta, full of carbs, and with each serving was stuffing. except for the pasta. And then there was a sickening sweet some kind of cranberry with peaches. Surely, your chef is aware of how to fix a meal that wouldn't take much effort and have lots less sugar. For instance, a garden salad, plain baked sweet potato and then a meat without sugary coverings. Please think about this for next time.
