Such a cute cosy little town for winter. Though I didn't go into this church, ridding past this in a spark has been a wonderful experience. What a charming building!
This delightful church was built at the height of the copper mining boom in 1786 and no trip to For us would be complete without visiting it
Built in 1784 at the height of the copper industry and on the highest point in town. Surprisingly large for such a small village - it seats over 1600. If you look just above the clock on each side of the church tower you will see two crossed hammers with the symbol for copper between them. It is very white and simple inside, with box pews and an upper gallery. The altar and organ are rather elaborate in comparison to the rest of the church. There is an entry fee of about 25kr.
Well worth visiting, if it's open! Built of stone and quite decorated (baroque almost); its construction was financed privately and reflects the town's past.
Stor og vakker kirke med god utsikt over sentrum av Røros. Dessverre var det stengt når jeg hadde tenkt meg inn, har imidlertid vært inne i den tidligere.
We went to the church with a guide and got a good look into the history behind this historic landmark. Fantastic!
Nice to see. Good guiding. Old church with much history. Can be seen as a bonus to a short guiding through Røros town. Worth reading about the history if on your own.
You have to include this church on any visit to Roros. It is at the heart of the town and has history in every corner.
This town and church is an amazing place, with buildings dated back to 1650ties. It has been a famous copper mine town. Also the coldest place in Norway during the winter. Very quaint.
Visible from almost every spot in town you cannot miss this church. Because of excellent restoration works done 3 years ago the church is in excellent condition. Information leaflets in multiple languages available. Unfortunately like everything in Norway you need to pay a significant amount to get in to the church.
