Excellent and well preserved toilets. A fee of 30p to enter, but worth every penny. Beautiful marble and copper fittings. The gents toilets are far superior to the ladies (or so my wife said on viewing photo's).
Nicely kept, very clean. They don't make em like this any more! Has won many awards. Minimal entrance fee.
The men's in particular is all in marble and brass, the sinks must be priceless; today would cosy a considerable amount in a private house.
30p to get in and a little underwhelming in their upkeep, but nevertheless they are iconic and deserve a visit and a donation to encourage their continuance.
The gentlemen's loo's on the harbour by the ferry terminal are a highlight of any trip to the Isle of Bute. They may look like any old public loo from the outside, but inside they are a work of art. I've not been in many, if any, men's loos before, but I can guarantee that you have never seen anything as ornate as these, made from beautiful marble with copper piping with the original wall mounted cisterns. They are light and airy and well maintained, although still have a very modern pong to them! The basins are sadly no longer in use, but still standing proudly.Ladies, please be aware that the loos and urinals are still fully functioning, so don't assume that all male visitors have only come to look too!The ladies loos opposite are nothing special as apparently Victorian ladies were never caught short.
Accompanied a friend celebrating "her" 60th birthday, what a treat for us all, what a venue for a "party" Amazing, must visit, great drive to Isle of Bute too.
The mens loos are spectacular, if you can say that about a toilet, all original marble sinks, urinals and beautiful copper pipes, most unusually historical site!!!
Went in for a Look as I saw An article About it in the Scots Magazine Sometime Back and Wanted to see More so I Went on a Bus Tour And was Not Dissapointed I asked the Attendant about the Modern Sinks in the Ladies And She Said in 1899 there was no Ladies Toilet At the moment
That was different to pay to go into a toilet but not use them! Even went into the Gents. Well worth a visit
Worth a visit especially if you need a toilet! The parking to use the facility is quite good and as a visitor attraction it's very novel! The island of Rothesay is interesting and the shopping centre is reasonably good for a small town. There's a very nice little cafe in the back streets and the prices were very reasonable.
