The beach is large, the facilities are good, the activity level is always enjoyable whether you want to take advantage of a walk on the pier, fishing, sunbathing or volleyball this location has it all and the beach is one of the best along the Michigan coastline. Come see and enjoy!
A lot of fun to remember the amusement park. The beach is still great. We saw and rode the old merry-go-round.There are real trophies on display from the old Silver Beach!!
I grew up in the area and every time I am in the area I love to go down to the beach and walk on the piers. Beautiful artwork in the park, and in the summer you can't beat the sand. Bathroom facilities and food in the summer months.Fee in the summer months, or park on the bluff and walk down.
Walk out along the pier to the end, Take off your shoes and walk along the beach! See the sculptures.
Fortunately I got few sunny day during my stay at St. Joseph and I saw the sunset @ silver beach that was a awesome experience. it is very nice and a must visit place.
Part of me is reluctant to share this, but the beaches on Lake Michigan's coast are too amazing not to brag a little! Silver Beach County Park is in the heart of St. Joseph Michigan. Once you step on the sand you feel like you are in Daytona (June - August). It's a huge beach with plenty of room for sun bathing, relaxing and or sports. There are tons of volley ball nets, picnic areas, access to food, and very clean and well maintained facilities. In addition to the beaches there are several amazing golf courses, local wineries and breweries to keep you busy.St Joseph Michigan is a great place for a long weekend or summer trip. If you are super brave you can visit September through May, the town is great with cute hotels, shops and restaurants, but the water will be way too cold for swimming!!!
What a gift given by God and well preserved by mankind. We are just back from the lake beautiful scenic view - water, sunset & the clear sky. You are just one with the nature. It was quite cold & windy so not much to do or spend time but would definitely look to come back in summer and spend some more valuable time. Spent about an hour bearing the winds and clicking some pictures to carry back the lovely memories.
Silver Beach has white sand just like you expect in Florida!!!Well maintained and family friendly. Well worth a stop when in the area.
A truly great place to bring the family. Enjoy the children's playground as well as the sand dunes to climb. The are restrooms readily available as well as a cozy snack shack with all the goodies for everyone. The wonderful beach speaks for itself.
My wife and I have a summer home in St. Joe, and are regular visitors to Silver Beach. It is clean and convenient from downtown, with parking (paid), a concession stand, restroom facilities, playground, numerous volleyball courts, jet ski rentals, and several pavilions. It includes Shadowland Pavilion, which is a great venue for outdoor concerts, weddings and special events. The pier is at the north end of the beach, where you can see pleasure craft as well as barges going into Lake Michigan from the St. Joe River. The beach is well-maintained and well-patrolled, and now includes a large interactive water fountain for kids and adults. It is also adjacent to the Amtrak station, Silver Beach Pizza, the Silver Beach Carousel and the Children's Museum. Silver Beach is just north of the smaller but fun Lion's Park Beach as well. We have spent many an afternoon with family and friends along the wide expanses of Silver Beach, and would recommend it to our friends in Chicago in particular, as it is only about an hour and 45 minutes by car, and is accessible by Amtrak from downtown Chicago as well.
