We really enjoyed this Winery. The land is pretty the building was quaint and the wine delicious. We did wine tasting, which is free and you get to try 6 wines. They offer discounts on bottles, too! They are part of the Southern Indiana WIne Trail. If you go ask why they call themselves Monkey Hollow!Staff was polite and friendly and prices were decent.Definitely going again!
We were in our way back from Huber Winery & decided to stop at Monkey Hollow Winery. They do not offer food, but the landscaping was nice & the lake was nice!
I am grateful for all the signs Monkey Hollow used to guide us to their winery. Without them, it would be a hard search. The area is lovely with an outdoor seating area. Mary, a wonderful employee, walked us the wine tasting. Even learned a bit about the storage and the life span of a bottle of wine. Several memorable wines to pick from too.
This was our 2nd visit to the winery. Had to get more of their wine! This visit we could hardly get to the wine tasting! There was a group traveling in a limo visiting wineries. Now, that is the way to travel to pick up your wine! There was also music out on the patio. Very nice setting. You can sit in the shade, look out on the vineyard & listen to some great, local music. And of course, enjoy a glass of wine!
My wife and I visited Monkey Hollow winery in early February. Each of the wines we sampled were quite good. They have several excellent semi-sweet, sweet and fruit wines. They have their own vineyard and winery on the property. The folks are very pleasant and very helpful in selecting wines. We purchased seven bottles of wine, but now we're not sure why we didn't buy more! Prices ranged from $12 to $20 per bottle. It's certainly a beautiful drive to get there from anywhere.
We loved the visit, very friendly staff. Nice patio. Easy to find, conveniently located. Love the wines and the purchases! Will be back many times.
This winery is just a few miles off of the main road. It does have a unique name, and we also enjoyed sampling the wines. The Chardonel was particularly pleasing. With a name like Monkey Hollow, the sock monkey is a good mascot for them.
My fiance and I took a picnic to this winery right before close on a Monday nite. The owner was more than happy to give us a full tasting, sell us a bottle, and allow us to stay after hours & eat our picnic on the porch overlooking the pond. The family that runs it has great stories about what led them to make wine. The wines are right on point, unique, and delicious, although more sweet wines than I usually like. The wines are winning many Indianapolis wine awards & their stock is moving quickly, most likely due to the vitner's chemical background. They have live music on Saturdays frequently in the summers. It is a great side trip when visiting the nearby Archabbey of Benedictine Monks. I highly recommend one of their free tastings.
Friendly staff offered wine choices for sampling. We liked blackberry, pasture limit, and a rose. Enjoyed the porch and the wine we bought. Liked the story about name and area.
We like to stop at wineries when we are traveling when we have a chance. We found this one and enjoyed the wine tastings. It's a little off the road, but not too hard to find. Cute inside with wine, gifts, and some snacks available also. I really enjoyed and encourage you to try the blackberry wine. It's awsome! All the fruit wines are very good. My husband liked the strawberry wine. They have a nice porch off the side of the building were you can enjoy the view, have a snack and a nice glass of wine too. Staff was very friendly and helpful and grounds and building are very well kept up.
