The three of us saw this cute little studio on Henry Street in the summer of 2012 and did not have time to try it. So on our return to Saratoga Springs for another fabulous Girls' Weekend we made sure it was part of our itinerary. We looked online at the calendar for the paintings that were being offered on the nights we would be in town and settled on the Sunset - but we all wished there were other choices as this was not something we were very excited about. Well we enjoyed the entire event from start to finish! It was so fun to mix the paints and try to follow the simple directions given by the art teacher. She was very good at giving guidance, but also emphasized that your painting will look different from hers and encouraged us to just have fun with it.Believe it or not there wasn't much 'sipping' - everyone was busy making their paintings beautiful so there wasn't time to sip. The 2 hours fly by!I would highly recommend this to everyone!
8 friends and I visited the Saratoga Paint and Sip studio this past Friday night. We had a wonderful time. The cost for the painting we chose was $38 per seat. This price includes your art supplies, the instruction and light appetizer. The evening begins with an introduction by the bartender of your artist for the night. The artist give you step by step instructions to create your painting, but leaves you with the freedom to chose your own colors and make it your own. The wine bar is open the entire time. There is a great selection of wines, beers and water and soda are also available. Wine/Beer cost was around $6 per glass and water and soda were $3. (TIP: We were able to print buy one get one half price coupons from their website, so we got a discount on our first two beverages). The light appetizers are REALLY light- as in a small platter of pretzels and hummus and a tiny cup of wasabi peas for the group. Honestly, we came for the experience not to eat, but I feel like people should know to plan ahead and eat beforehand or plan to go out after, there are lots of great little restaurants and bars all around this place (our group recommends the Henry Street Taproom next door- we found half price drink coupons on the table by the door of the paint studio and we used these after for a few more beverages and had a delicious dinner). There were couples within our class on date nights, a group of co-workers having this as their Christmas party and several other friends just having fun like us. Overall we had a wonderful experience. Pricing was fair and reasonable for the experience. Most of admittedly are not very artistic, but you can tell by the photo of us with our pictures we were pleasantly surprised. Most of us agreed we will hang our painting somewhere in our house. We are planning another group night out in the Spring. Highly recommend giving Saratoga Paint and Sip a try.
I went here for my bachelorette party. The people were very nice. It was very hard to follow what the instructor was doing since the room is long and thin. It would've been helpful if she was up on a platform so the whole class could see. I'm glad I tried this, but wouldn't return. I would recommend going for the experience.
I can't say enough nice things about this place. The facility is bright and fun, the staff is friendly and very helpful. It's a load of fun and almost addicting. My wife and I can't wait to go back.
I have now visited the Saratoga Springs Paint and Sip Studio twice and have enjoyed it on both occasions. Trust me when I say that I do not have an art background, but was still able to enjoy painting on a canvas. There is no pressure, no stress and the step by step process as shown by the artist makes anyone a Picasso! Plus, the added bonus of being able to "sip" some alcoholic beverage at the same time reduces any personal stress you may have. This is a great thing to do with a friend, a group of friends or even your loved ones. I've seen men there and they had a blast! Truly a great place to unwind and just have fun! Tip: Get there about 20 minutes ahead of time to get your drink and ideal easel location. Once everyone arrives, it stinks to have to stand in line at the "bar".
This place is so much fun! It would be a fantastic girls night out!! It is also a great way to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere is very inviting. You leave there feeling like an artist!
We received a gift certificate for Saratoga Paint and Sip last Christmas and finally used it. We procrastinated going because we were not too excited about the experience and when we tried to book a few times, they were all booked up. If you are planning on going, plan far in advance especially to book a seat for one of the more popular painting themes. The Studio has another location in Newton Plaza, Latham in addition to Saratoga. We went to the Latham location which has convenient parking and was easy to find. There must have been about 30 people there for the two hour afternoon session. Many people were repeat customers and really enjoy it. It seems popular for groups of people especially for parties and special occasions. We sat at the far end of the room not realizing that it would be more difficult to see the instructor as she provided guidance to the budding artists on how to paint Van Gogh's Olive Trees. In the long run, our seating didn't matter that much as the instruction was not that in depth. Speaking of seating, the small stools that were furnished at each painting station were not very comfortable especially after two hours. The seats would be my only complaint. The staff were nice and accommodating. Wine, beer, and water was available to purchase. My partner had wine and said that the choices were fine and the prices reasonable. I brought in my own bottled water and it seemed to be acceptable. In summary, it was an experience that was fun and unique but I wouldn't go again. I was pleasantly surprised with my final painting even though it didn't look much like Van Gogh's work of art. I would suggest it to people looking for ideas for something new and different, for a date night, and a group activity. And of course for those who like to paint.
I've been here twice and enjoyed myself very much both times. There is a different painting each evening so you sign up for the one you want to paint. You find a spot and you're given a canvas, paintbrushes, acrylic paints and a smock. You can buy a glass of wine for $6. Beer and soft drinks are available too. The instruction is low key and lighthearted. It's a little expensive at $38, but I will keep coming back because it's fun and you get to take home your own masterpiece.
Really fun night - something different to do - whether you are artistic or not, it is a great way to spend a few hours... drinks and trying to paint something as great as the artist is demonstrating Lots of laughs, staff was very nice. Would definitely go back! Get there early for a good seat close to the demo painting. They take pictures throughout the night and post on facebook.
I went here on a Friday night with some girlfriends and had a blast. We each had a glass or two of wine while we were painting. None of us have known artistic talent, but our pictures came out pretty darn good. I mistakenly thought the wine was included in the price, but it was only $6. The place sells out so book early. I wanted to go back with another friend who will be visiting me from out of town, but they're already booked for the weekend she'll be here.
