Snorkeling with sea lions near the most beautiful beach was amazing. Sand like baby powder, sea lions, iguanas and wonderful marine life. I could have stayed forever.
We snorkeled here in September 2014 and the water was both cold and cloudy. We saw lots of fish, but no sea lions chose to swim with us. Lots of sea lions all over the beach and a very noisy male kept warning us away from his harem of females whenever we swam near the pack on the beach. Pretty enjoyable! In other months this could be a great place to swim. If you are there in the coorer season bring your wet suit.
We did a great zodiac/panga ride around Cerro Brujo. We went into the cathedral cavern, but were unable to go through the tunnel as the tide was too high. The beach there is nice, also. Diving is extreeeemely average. We did one dive here and the visibility was not great and there was very little sea life. I would expect snorkelling would be much the same. I would advise two dives at Kicker Rock instead.
If you always wanted to be a super villain, this is your drink spot. A 30 min zodiac ride along the cliff and through the needle hole will convince you to move in with your 'mini you'. The beach and the snorkeling is nice afterword with pleasant sand
Absolutely beautiful beach. It did help that - although we came in overcast Garúa season - the sky cleared up just as we arrived. Tours to León Dormido don't always hail at Cerro Brujo (the farthest beach on the east coast), but when you get the chance, try to take a tour that includes Cerro Brujo. Beaches are really beautiful: white sand, turquoise water, sea lions to come and frolic with you as you swim around. Water is pretttty cold, but who cares when the spot is so fantastically idyllic as this.
Not much hiking but a nice beach area. I chose to stay on the boat but my husband walked up and down the beach looking for sights and did not come back with anything interesting
While our group was there, my cruise mates reported that the snorkeling was not great;as the visibility was poor. But the emerald green water and super fine sand more than make up in terms of the scenic beauty of the place.Prior to coming to the beach, we were shown some picturesque cliffs including one called 'The Cathedral'. Wild life appears limited except for finches and yellow warblers. Several types of small fishes were swimming in a shallow pool.A fine place for a walk.
One of the most beautiful places I've visited. So mysterious and enchanting...White sand beach, volcanic rocks, turquoise and crystalline water, blue footed boobies, iguanas....what else could you ask for? magic place!!!
See my report for Galapaguera, this small volcano crater is included in that tour, the crater is full of water resulting in a fresh water lagoon where the frigates (tijerertas or fragatas in Spanish) go to get rid of the salt in their wings
