If you want to experience an island surrounded by water to play and sun the day away this place is it. You can only get there by boat and you can stand in the middle and turn in a circle and see water on all sides. There's a restaurant which serves great lobster as well as other things. There are some restrooms and a volleyball area. Other than that - that's it. Simple. Relaxed. Island time. If you are used to having everything imaginable within reach then this place is not what you want. If you just want to relax and enjoy food, friends and your surroundings then it is perfect.
An area on the beautiful island of Anguilla with some retaurants and bars. Nice views of the water.Don't miss dinner at Barrel Stay and the nearby Veya.
This island is a short boat ride from Sandy ground (they have a boat that will take you for a small fee). The island is small but it is all beach! You can rent chairs on the sand, go snorkeling, have lunch and enjoy cocktails on the beach or under cover in the restaurant. They have a full bar and many appetizers & entrees to chose from. The food is fresh and oh so good! I had the shrimp skewers which were so fresh and full of flavor. They do take credit cards and the owner is very friendly and helpful. He personally greets everyone that arrives! If you are in Anguilla do not miss Sandy Island!
We had a great day on the island. Food was lovely, drinks were good, and the staff were so friendly and helpful, particularly Dion and Jo Jo. We were the only 2 on the island for most of the day. The trip out was fun. We were staying in St Martin and went to Anguilla on a day trip specifically to have lunch on the island and weren't disappointed. The ferry from Marigit is easy, and you can get a taxi at the ferry terminal to take you for a drive around the island and to the wharf to get the boat to Sandy Island. Our taxi driver came back to get us later. We had a drink at Dad's bar while we waited, and that looked like a great place too.
I went just for a few hours to enjoy the Island wich is very small but pretty at the same time, they offer local Anguillian and tasty food, I had the coconut shrimp with curry and the mahi mahi with garlic. The service provided by Deon, Judith and Simone was great, very attentive and friendly staff.Highly recommended place if you are in Anguilla for vacations.
We went there trying to find a good spot for snorkelling in Anguilla, what is not easy task to do comparing to other places in Caribe. The snorkellig was not good (thousands of dead corals, we heard was caused by a hurricaine in the 90s), some fishes but nothing special. What surprised us is the quality of the food served. Looked like a tourist trap, but we simply had the best Blackened Mahi fish in 20 days in Caribe. Just that fish made the trip to the island worthy!
Anguilla is a charming island with the nicest beaches in the area.Easy to travel with a little car to rent at the port. ($) Not so expensive. The bad thing: The guys the try to rip you off for the parking and the chairs on the beach !
We departed by ferry/motorboat and spent the entire day. Had a great lunch of Caribbean Lobster and kicked back.
Came here on a catamaran with a group of people. The crew from the cat said we had a beautiful clear day as the water is usually cloudy. Getting there in the dingy wasn't my favorite way to arrive but it worked out ok. The food was INCREDIBLE. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the pasta, coleslaw and rice were amazing. I appreciated how they turned out such amazing food in what seemed like such a primitive kitchen. Snorkeling was ok - some people complained about the current and there was a tremendous amount of seaweed both in the water and on the beach which made things a bit more challenging. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed swinging in the hammock and the bathrooms were as clean as they could be considering you're on a small beach island. Overall a very good day!
great to catch a boat from Sandy Ground and go there for a few hours. Nice environment, good food selection, updated gazebo, can play volleyball, great snorkeling.
