Took my 4yr old here while visiting. Really fun interactive museum with a few animals. Easy to navigate, most of the animals were out and about. Everyone was very friendly. We saw everything and even did a show in about an hour and a half. Perfect to do before lunch and naptime.
This is a little science center for kids with a main room and alot of outdoor exhibits with animals, aviary with eagles, owls, condors, and foxes. Also some water creature like otters, etc. It's not meant for kids older than 10. It's inexpensive, yet the staff is friendly and cozy. Facility wise everything was functional and pretty clean. Kids had fun with the interactive exhibits and the shows.
I took my 3.5 yr old and he was thrilled. It was a really fun place. Lots of neat hands on science exhibits for children of all ages and lots of beautiful animals. I was also impressed with the view and the admission cost was very reasonable. This place is a must see....;)
I went a lot in the 90's, when there were more exhibits Nd a whole second floor. There have been changes for financial reasons, but it's still a sweet museum, esp. the live animals - raccoons, bobcats, aviary, etc. Combining a visit with a trip to the fabulous (though shadeless) nearby playground makes for a great outing.
Any wedding venue has its down sides and bridal couples should be aware of CuriOddysey's before they book it. 1) it is directly in the flight path of SFO airport so any activity held in the gardens will be interrupted with loud overhead airplanes flying in. 2) there is no kitchen on site so caterers must build out their own kitchens which adds to the expense. 3) the redwood room, a stunning space, is divided into thirds with ramps, none of which is large enough to hold more than 75 people or so, so wedding toasts and speeches are awkward/impossible. 4) there is no air conditioning in the redwood room so on a warm day it gets quite hot 5) there is no access to the redwood roomexcept through a rather pedestrian children's exhibition6) the redwood room has no bathrooms so guests have to go down two short flights of stairs to the museum restrooms. If guests have a sense of humor these factors may be unimportant but couples should be aware of them up front.
For those visiting the area, this is a fun museum for the little ones to visit. The museum has local animals that they can get pretty close to, and the science exhibits is such a nice bonus. It's not expensive, and for the entry fee and parking fee, you get more than just the museum. You get the playgrounds nearby (they are updated and safe for the children), picnic grounds for impromptu meals, and lots of lookout points to look at planes landing. For the older set of kids (i.e. adolescent and teenage set), this may be a little too tame, but if they can go outside to explore instead of visit the museum. For those who live in the area, definitely consider getting the membership since the membership allows you free parking into the park area, and it's a tax deduction for a great organization who rescues local animals. In summary, going to the museum opens up so many options for you to do more than just see animals so go already! :)
This is a fantastic all in one discovery/zoo/hands on activity area. Also a great location for meetings. If you have kids aged 4-10 years old you must come by and experience the learning.
Airplanes taking off in the distance - makes the skies interesting. Set in beautiful wooded park area. Many interesting exhibits for young kids. Building blocks, magnets, live indoor(!) beehive !!Animal sanctuary with large spiders and small snakes and ferrets.Fun children show of 20 minutes to get close to animals.
Great place for children, families, and friends!Wonderful views all around, including airplanes landing at the nearby SFO. CuriOdyssey is a wonderful destination and a must place to visit for locals or visitors.
Toddlers won't understand most of the science involved but may like the outdoor portion with theanimals. The 6-10 yr age group will love the experiments and will spend hours being entertained by all the interactive areas. Almost all areas may be used by multiple children at one time so everyone will get a turn. The outdoor animal rescue area has animals native to the area . They seem to be well cared for. Take some time to go down to the waterfront and walk along the breakwater. There is also a playground on the way out.
