It is enough. It is so hot that you feel like melting down as butter. The monument identification is limited and there is not kind is summary preparation to understand what you are observing.I won't repeat the visit.
Beautiful place to visit in Santiago. I was here in July 2012, and it was an amazing place. Monumento a los Heros is worth a visit if you're staying in Santiago.
Well kept gardens ideal for photo shoots. View from the top of the monument gives you a 360 tour on Santiago. You could use the viewers installed on top to identify landmarks in the city. A historic account of the Restauracion using museum displays. Elevators were out of service so you have to climb up the stairs to the top (4-5 stories). this is exhausting for people with disabilities and old age.
This is a great place to be able to view the whole city from the top of the monument. It is great for couples to enjoy the view and also is able to cater to families. The carriage rides are awesome and extremely romantic. I love walking around and people watching, each day brings with it a new experience. Come and enjoy Santiago night life.......so much fun!!!!
A cool looking monument that you can walk through. You will be charged if you are not a local (around $5-10) . It's not an all day kind of thing, but don't be afraid to flag down a local with a cooler to purchase a cold presidente!
The Monumento a los Heroes de la Restauración is a monument that celebrates important people throughout the history of the Dominican Republic. It is always noticeable on the Santiago landscape. Events are held at the base of it. You can get carriage rides and visit the monument's museum with very interesting information about Santiago and the Dominican Republic. It is an icon of Dominican Culture
On a hill at the east end of downtown area is Santiago most visible and recognizable sight, the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration of the Dominican Republic. It was built during the dictatorship of Rafael L Trujillo in 1944 as Trujillo's Monument to Peace. This significantly place offers spectacular views of Santiago city and surroundings moutains, and it is an attractive place at night where people go to relax and have fun. There are many restaurants in this area as well as discotecs. By the kindness of its people, Santiago has been named The City Heart...
I love it since the first time and this last time wasn't an exception, photos here are great and be ready to walk up. Try also getting a view from the sidwalk and you'll see how awesome it looks.
Beautiful.............. I enjoyed the monument. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. At night the monument shines red white and blue the colors of the Dominican flag.
It's a very beautiful building. I recommend going twice: once in the daytime when you can enter and take in the view from inside the building, and then at night when it is lit. At night it's a very romantic spot, and I would recommend taking some special in a carriage ride around the monument.
