Neighborhood friendly brewery with delightful and varied beers to taste and enjoy. Thursday evenings there is beer & pizza from Upper Crust Pizza for a great price. Any other evening you may bring in your own food and enjoy a fresh pint with your dinner. A friendly and knowledgeable staff keep everyone happy and informed about the beers that are served.
This is a brewery not a brewpub so there's no food here. There are plenty of seats and board games available for your entertainment. I like to visit microbreweries of the places I visit and my girlfriend and I needed to kill an hour or so before our boat tour. We found styles of beer we liked and I bought a growler of the Maggie's Irish Red to take home. I wish we had been there with more people, but it wasn't a lunchtime or after work time when we visited so we were the only ones there. On the plus side I got to have a nice chat with the brewer who was there. He answered any questions we had.If I'm ever in Sault Ste. Marie again I'm bringing my empty growler back for a refill.
The beer is good for this area, but is at the bottom of my list for Michigan brewers. Too small inside and no food. They really need to have bands or something.
Like to visit local micro breweries when in towns, this was not a disappointment. Very busy, I enjoyed a Laker Gold, named after the College in town.
I was impressed with the number of different kinds of beer that they make. I found a number of new favorites, the Laker Gold was awesome. There are also games to play while you working on your beers. I got crushed playing Bananagrams because I was more interested in the beer.
This is your standard new microbrewery. The brewery operation is in the back and a "tasting room" is in the front. The beers are great--I particularly liked the porter--the staff are friendly, and the place has a pretty cool setup with sofas and a coffee table in addition to the usual benches and tables. As is pretty standard for small breweries, they don't sell food nor do they serve alcohol other than their own beer. You're welcome to bring in your own food, and it seems like the local delivery outfits all deliver there as well. Growlers are also available, and they're quite reasonably priced. I actually had good beer the next night in Canada thanks to that (no $30 trip to the "Beer Store" for me!).I'm not sure what to compare them to, since the nearest "competition" I know of is in Marquette or Traverse City.If you like beer and are in Sault Ste. Marie, Soo Brewing is a must-visit.
For the location of this place, the beers are above average. It is nothing special. Pub style service with no kitchen. However the place is popular and it is worth a visit if you are a beer fan and in the area. Laid back atmosphere with a decent selection of beer.
with a nice selection of ever changing, master-crafted beers, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better beer in town, and this town has a LOT of bars to try. but if you're a beer lover, this is the place. great prices and great prices for a growler to take home, and you should get one, you'll want to take some of this beer home.
Informal setting for sampling the 8 or so brews made in house. We had a flight of samples first to determine which beers we liked best. Lots of seating. People playing games. Free peanuts too! Really delicious beers. Bought a growler to take beer back to our hotel room.
I discovered the Soo Brewing Company last year. This year I made sure to return. I've tried several of their beers. I have to say that the Maggie Irish Red is my favorite.
