very close to down town Bariloche and quite accesible by diferent forms of transportation Cerro Catedral is a Large sky resort with several areas with the most incredible views of the Andes
Summer on the slopes is disappointing as little to anything is open. The charge to go up the ski lift ($20 USA) is crazy to pay when all their is a view and no snow. Don't waste your time and money.
Take the gondola to the top and enjoy the view at the lake and at Bariloche. Spectacular. We didn't took the gondola back but walked. That was not a succes. No great views and a ling dusty road.
We went in December and once we got to the summit - WOW!!! Spectacular views make this a trip worthwhile.
Overall, great terrain and facilities, snow last year was great. This year, there was no snow until you go to the top of the mountain. This isn't the Rockies, so be aware of variable conditions. This is out of the control of the resort though. They do a great job, and I thoroughly enjoyed trips with lots of snow, and ones with not so much.
This ski place is really good I stay in a hotel with log cabins is about 5 min walking to the ski center. The ski center has everything have a small mall, restaurants, places to rent ski apparel, bar's! Sometimes they have shows and car's test drive and airlines booth. In resume this place is great for ski, hangout and enjoy the snow. Is so much better if you stay close the ski resort because in winter is crowded. Enjoy your trip
We visited this place without snow and really is a waste of time, nothing to see, the town also doesnt deserve a visit...previously I had visited Cerro catedral in the sky season, then it is beautiful, and is worth to visit and stay there
This is a must return to for me. The views and the sheer size of this ski area is magnificent. The people are charming and very helpful as well as being well informed and polite. The level of skiing was simply stunning with something for everyone. One of my favorite things was the parrilladas (grills) located at various locations right on the slopes where one can get a cold beer, grilled churasco (steak) or choripan (itallian sausage in a french baguette) without having to trudge your way to some big lodge. At the top of the mountain is a beautiful lodge where you can sit and look over to the "tronador" a rumbling volcano or into Chile. If you get a chance to meet " El Negro" an 85 year old gentleman who has been here since his childhood and helped to build the ski area. He is very pleasant to speak to and still skis and teaches a ski class every day! If you love to ski you will love this place. Etched forever in my pleasant memories!
The views from the top of the ski lift are said to be the scenic in Argentina and among the ten best in the world. Believe it! Utterly spectacular.
Very good quality ski resort, organized with nice lifts and awesome views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. Definitely one of the most beautiful skiing views in the world. We were there for two weeks in the end of September, the snow conditions where variable, but a storm brought a few days of good snow, and generally these snow storms can happen even in the low season. We rented all our gear from "skandinavian" in the village below, which is very recommended, high quality gear nice staff and convenient location!
