I am not a church person, but this place would make most of the churches in Venice blush. Class is an understatement
Beautiful Basilica in the heart of oldest city in North America. A must visit if you are a visiting from away. Beautiful architecture with a fascinating history. The stained glass windows and the ceiling are worth the trip. Also make sure you book a tour of the "Veiled Virgin" close by.
This is an incredible building with beautiful stained glass windows. I wished we were able to take in a service there. Whereas the Anglican church down the hill has travel guides available, this was self-guided. At the time we were there, there was only one other person in the building that we could see. It is a truly spectacular building.
It's big, but not super pretty. Easily beaten by St John's Anglican Cathedral just down the hill. If you're out for a walk to see St John's many churches (who knew there were so many!), then it's not far out of your way, but if you're pressed for time it can certainly be skipped in favour of the Cathedral.
This Basilica is truly beautiful, and is filled with interesting artifacts and historical displays. Location is close to the Rooms and other St. John's attractions. You can spend a little or a lot of time, depending on your interest level.
Probably the most beautiful church I've ever been to. The architecture and stained glass are amazing. The view from the location o the church is also great as it overlooks the whole city. A must see
While walking around Downtown, I stopped at explored the Basilica. The architecture is amazing and the interior décor is a nice surprise when you walk-in. It is very big inside and you can easily find yourself snapping lots of pictures. Make sure to check their website on times that are good for visitors. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was fine. No one was there. I would highly recommend going!
When we arrived it was dark and quiet but a lovely man came and turned on all the Christmas lights as they were in the midst of taking them down. The place is relatively new as far as basilicas go but is oozing with architecture and details of the greats
Beautiful stained glass windows. Prominent site overlooking St. John's - some nice views from up there. Lovely grounds and prayer garden. Statues outside are quite nice. You can do a quick tour or stay and examine the artifacts and displays.
Spacious and ornate interior. Guided tours make the history come alive. Another great pipe organ with two consoles and majestic sounds.
