Kenny was a great tour guide! We went to his daughter and son in law's home for dinner. The food was amazing, make sure you leave room for dessert! There were two pies to pick from, or as all of us did, some of each. Pies were cut in half and you went from there and cut as big a slice as you wanted. We chose not to do the farm tour this time because we did that last November, the farmer and his family were also very friendly. This family run tour group really made us feel welcome in their home, and answered questions we asked about themselves and their home and lifestyle. We intend to do this again the next time we are in Shipshewana.
Returning patron for this one, and would do it again. The four-star tour brings you to a farm called The Old Homestead. Very nice man runs this dairy farm. Milk a cow, hand-feed a calf, tour the facility and try some milk and ice cream made on site.
Our tour guide took us through the country, past their own personal farm. Very relaxing scenic tour.
Our second time taking their tours. Last fall we did the 4 star tour. Yesterday we did the 5 star tour which includes dinner in an Amish home. The Amish farmer remembered us from last fall! Amazing! Everyone could not have been nicer, we and our nieces really enjoyed ourselves. The dinner was in Kenny's(the tour company owner) daughters home. For dinner we had some type of chicken with a coating on it that resembled shake n bake but was tastier. We also had what resembled a cheeseburger without the bun also tastier, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, chicken noodles, and 3 kinds of homemade pie! Let me tell you, the pies were amazing and huge! They would have put anything in the tourist bakeries to shame! The price was a little steep if you consider the price of dinner, but you are paying for the experience as well and it was well worth it we felt. The kids really enjoyed the cultural experience. They talked about it all night long! Kenny was also going to take us to an Amish farm auction after dinner but it was finished by the time we arrived. Too bad as that would have been an amazing end to an already amazing evening.
I've taken this tour twice now and I would not come anywhere near this area without taking in again. We are from Louisiana. Kenny and his family are great. The tour contains so much great information and facts and the stops are great. The meal is a must at Kenny's Daughter and Son in Laws. Kenny's son farm is amazing and very educational. Barry
Great Buggy tour....very friendly and informative guide! You can also buy a couple of carrots and feed them to the horses. The horses didn't even wait for me to get all the way to them before leaning my way and eating up the carrot. Loved it! Just watch your fingers! :)Reasonable prices...very relaxing after walking around for a few hours. Would definitely do it again!
Second year in a row using this buggy tour after trying others and this is the BEST in Shipshewana. Sweet, knowledgable guides, great tour of the country and wonderful horses! Well worth the time and money
I went with my daughter and her 3 children (ages 5,6,7). We had a fantastic buggy ride and tour of a working farm. The kids got to milk a cow, feed a calf, feed chickens and more. After the buggy tour, Kenny drove us to his daughters home for a home cooked Amish Meal. The whole tour was full of insightful information. The dinner was fantastic and I would truly recommend it. We convinced Kenny and his wife to join us. My grandchildren wanted to know when we could do that again. The only regret - I wish I could have convinced Kenny's daughter, who hosted the dinner, to join us at the table. She graciously acknowledged that her role was to serve us. And the dinner was fantastic.
We are doing this again if we come back according to my 13 yr old son. The buggy tour with our driver Clarence and Bob the horse to the dairy farm was great & informative. Loved the dairy farm and the fact that the family was so forthcoming in explaining all about their operation there. My son got to milk a cow and we got to watch the calves being bottle fed. When Kenny took us afterwards to his daughters for the meal, he was quite informative about the area and its history. I loved the meal but my son couldn't say enough, just that " the amish women sure can cook". While there he got Elaines recipe for peach pie which was one of the desserts served so that he could make it once we got home. We really enjoyed the driving tour to Middlebury and through the more strict Amish area further out of town. Kenny was very down home and comfortable in his postion as guide around his hometown. I would reccomend this to any and all visiting Shipshewanna. The entire experience is rolled into one price.
4 of us took the 35 minute tour out in the farming area and our driver Leroy was a very good guide telling about the countryside and answering our questions.
