Not only do they have a wide variety of animals to view, but the staff is wonderful. We spent over two and a half hours wandering through the park, it is very well laid out, lots to see, food dispensers are scattered throughout the park and the staff is very friendly/helpful. We will definitely go back again!
We went without our kids, but had a good time. Our kids would have loved it if we had them with us. Needs a refreshment stand though.
Either they've moved it or this is the wrong address / different place. The Wildlife Park seems to be located along Creighton Road, Shubenacadie East. NS B0N
A save place to actually see a moose, a bear, wolves, foxes and many other animals. We really enjoyed it and it seems like the animals have quite some space.
While it is sad to see the animals kept in cages the majority that are there are rehabilitated and for some reason unreleasable. The opportunity to see such a variety up close is pretty special.
It was lovely to see so many families enjoying this wonderful wildlife park. We were very lucky to spot almost all the animals, many of which are not seen in European zoos etc. Some of the animals cannot be returned to the wild due to injuries but the park does its best to see that they have shelter and an outside area and it is great fun to try and spot where they are "hiding". We got some great photos. Very reasonably priced entrance fee.
This place is great! The admission was only $4.50 for adults and $2.00 for kids and we spent about 2 hours there. There are about 40 types of animals: wolves, moose, foxes, owls, otters, bears, and more. The staff are very pleasant and helpful in terms of showing you how to get around the park. We were there mid-afternoon and some of the animals were resting (hiding) in the shade, so I would recommend going in the early morning or late afternoon to see them more active. They have feed machines throughout the park as well so you can feed some of the animals. There is also a huge playground for kids with lots of climbing structures, tire swing, etc.
Shubenacadie Wildlife Park is open during the winter season (Oct to May) but on weekends only. Last weekend we spent a couple of hours strolling through the park. With children you will need to spend a little long. Lots to look at and in the morning the animals were quite active. For an admission fee of only $3.00 this is a great weekend adventure!
Great selection of Canadian wildlife for the surprisingly small adult fee of ~$4.50 (I can only assume that it's subsidised by the state or something). Wolves, bears, Sable Island horses... it's got the lot in a rather nice park layout. I went here with family to take the 2 year old and I possibly loved it more than the little one!Bring plenty quarters so you can feed the ducks / peacocks and the deer by hand using approved food from the machines throughout the park. Fairly easy access off the Halifax - Truro highway too with plenty of free parking at the site.
This place was a pleasant surprise. The animals looked well cared for, in a natural environment. Cost to get in was minimal and totally worth it. The place is well laid out and easy to get around. Recommend it for an afternoon.
