I make a point to take any visitors to Riverfront Park ... It should be a stop for anyone wanting to get a feel for the city. The falls are beautiful, especially in the spring, when snowmelt makes them really grand. The gondolas ride is a great way to get up close. I think my favorite attraction is the garbage goat, an iron goat located near the carousel that eats garbage when you push a button to activate the vacuum. Kids like it, and it's just a quirky Spokane thing. See the giant red wagon, feed the ducks, take a picture with the Bloomsday runners sculpture, splash in the splash pad when it's warm out. The park is very walkable - be sure to see both sides of the river ... There are plenty of bridges to get you to the other side.
Recently moved from Spokane. Miss the river and the park. Loved to go here in the summer and take in all the food and beauty of the area.
Large, beautiful park on the River, easy to get to, near downtown attractions. Can ride the aerial ride over the falls for a fee or ride the carousel.
Always a good place to walk through. Don't miss Huntington Park, the gondola, and it is truly beautiful along the river. Summertime is always good and you can pop over to shop downtown quite easily. Very walking accessible.
This is the perfect place for a late night stroll. We were lucky to get a hotel right on the river and really enjoyed all the many sculptures and art along the walkways. Wish I had more time but we only were in Spokane for the 1 night.
It was a bit rainy and cold, but it was a nice place to walk. There was art, the river, lots of people exercising and convenient to shopping, restaurants and hotels.
Im born in S. California, moved here in '78, raised kids here and am currently relocating south to more sunshine. That being said....If for some reason you find yourself in spokane with good outdoor weather and are looking to entertain a family, this is a great place. There are rides, indoor attractions, carousel, gondola rides, plenty to do to spend a few hours of a day and be entertained. And if, by chance, the family splits up for the day (kids wanna run through the park or go shopping) just accrossed the street are many taverns/ bars from dives to martini, and there is a mall with shopping, food, and nice movie theater. Anyone that wants a challenge- here is a tip that few know about. Across the street behind the opera house is tall rectangular concrete art structure. The city has officially named it "unnamed art structure" or something like that. Its on a city pamphlet identifying all the art around town. Anyone brave enough to crawl to the top will find on one of the crossbeams the name stamped in the top of it, and will be surprised. NOW- anyone too chicken to climb to the top can walk down the pathway east i believe and there is a bronze statue of a man holding a wheel barrel. THE SAME THING IS STAMPED UNDER HIS SLIGHTLY RAISED FOOT! Not going to spoil the surprise, but they are both there, and its worth the climb, and / or worth the bending over and looking under his foot. Enjoy.....If the kids want a challenge, there are a set of stone rocks that follow a tiered set of pools toward the river. Growing up it was always fun to start at the top and hop from one to the other all the way down to the end. Lastly, if you hit "marmot hour" there are these oversized gophers throughout the park, mostly on the hillsides next to the river. they come out for a couple hours a day. Fun to feed them. Oh, and there is a goat in the corner next to the carousel that is a trash vacuum. Pick up a few leaves, or some garbage, and push the button and it sucks the stuff right out of your hand. kids love it. (when noone was around, we used it as a urinal when we were younger lol)
This is such a great relaxing place. Lots to do several restaurants close by this large park that is always well maintained. We have visited twice and look forward to our next trip..If you are in the are and have some time to spend this would be a good place to spend it.
I went there with my sister last summer and had a great time. So many things going on. Food, people, and the beautiful Spokane Falls. We went on the Sky ride and it was a beautiful way to see the whole park. The only bad thing is that if it is hot out it is even hotter in the ride. They need air conditioning in that ride.
Restaurants shopping such as Nordstrom's etc. Just across from the 1974 Worlds Fair site. Multiple restaurants, Apple store.
