I can't believe I have been to Skagway several times and had not yet been to the falls. It was an easy and beautiful walk to the base of the falls. I loved listening to the thundering of the water and seeing the hints of rainbows made by the spray higher up. My daughter liked wading in the small pools away from the main channel. It was a lovely experience.
This was a nice little walk and has a bit of history with the cemetery. Worth seeing and looking at the grave sites and reading their story...very interesting.
What a lovely, old time, cemetery, and you can hear the falls in the background. We walked to the falls, and we enjoyed the view, the flowing water, and the overall atmosphere. This is a must see if you visit Skagway
Very pretty for the little effort to climb, enjoyable little hike with flora , and waterfall was quite lovely. Can do with children easily.
Although the Skagway Grave Yard is small...it's still very historical. And, just a short trip up the trail, there is a beautiful 300 foot waterfall...it is so beautiful! Temps drop 10 degrees in just a few short steps. Easy walk to the falls....just do it...my favorite spot!
This is a beautiful falls just above the old cemetery, and is well worth the short hike. You can take your kids and no special clothing or shoes are necessary. It can get a little crowded when the cruise ship buses stop by, so try to time it or wait them out - they usually don't take a lot of time.
Lower Reid Falls is a hidden secret tucked behind the Gold Rush Cemetery. A short three minute walk will bring you to this beautiful, loud gem that is refreshing on both a cold and hot day. I've been coming to Skagway for years and rarely miss the opportunity to see this place. All the guests that I've brought along over the years have enjoyed it as well.If you're feeling particularly adventurous, try climbing up to the cavern underneath the waterfall - particularly if it is a hot day. It's quite slippery, but it adds a little something to the perspective. The water is quite cold, but it is very enjoyable. If you're on foot, this place is maybe a 20min walk from the harbour. It's easily accessible by car and tour buses take you here too.Try to time your visit when there's not a lot crowds though. People tend to get in the way of great photos and speak loudly over the serenity of this place.
Take a walk out to the gold rush cemetery and walk around the old stones. See where smith and Reid were buried. Then venture up behind the cemetery and visit the falls. You will be rewarded. It is gorgeous.
This is a beautiful waterfall. You are able to go right up to and take pictures. There can be a lot of tourists so make sure you get there early so you can take a picture of just you and the waterfall! A must see!
You can combine a short hike to Lower Reid Falls with a visit to the Gold Rush Cemetery. The trail up to the falls is easy but can be muddy at times. These falls are huge, not just a small trickle. Well worth the time.
