The Estate's Footman was our guide, we felt like we stepped back in time during the Guilded Age and he provided history of the Mills Mansion, how they ran the estate and the family. Well worth the visit. I purchased a tour which I enjoyed immensely. There is much walking and minor amount of stairs. I recommend it highly.

Review of Mills Norrie State Park Campground New York. Do you like trains? lots of train whistles at night and during the day, but overall nice park with exceptional location to Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie attractions. 10 to 15 minute drive away. No hookups but dump station available. some level sites but most are not. Not great for rv camping. We liked sites 1 3 5 backed up to woods. some sites along river look very nice. affordable place to stay and camp and close to lots of cycling and walking trails Vanderbilt mansion and Roosevelt homestead . Lots of trees some sites private some not. Road in campground very rocky and bumpy. Park very beautiful and quite in October. had to pay next day when office opened up. No envelope or pay locked box. Out of state $22.75 per night
