I had the opportunity to play Belgrade Lakes Golf Course in early September of 2013. I found the course to be an outstanding condition with the fairways excellent and the greens also excellent. The views from the different tees as well as the fairways and greens were breathtaking. The 9th and 18th greens we're unbelievable and not only their beauty but in their character as well. I would recommend this golf course to anyone who really enjoys playing the game. Having already played 40 of the top 100 courses in the United States, I can now check off Belgrade Lakes Golf Course; at number 77; on my list of must play golf courses. This golf course is it not only and outstanding test of your golf game, but ranks as one of the most beautiful golf courses I have ever played. I highly recommend this course to anybody who enjoys the game of golf. With numerous tees from which to play this course is playable by all ability levels. I recommend that you bring your camera!
While not as challenging as a PGA course like Pebble Beach, it is every bit as beautiful and should definitely be on your course bucket list. On many of the holes, there are amazing views and although we have only played in summer, I imagine the Fall must be spectacular with all the trees and view of the pond. The staff treats guests as well as members, which is refreshing and makes you feel welcome. If you are in Maine for a vacation, it would definitely be worth bringing your clubs for a unforgettable golf splurge.
A group of 9 of us golfed here Wednesday afternoon and twice Thursday. Course was fantastic, staff were the best and views that need to be seen to be believed! This is our 3rd year making this trip from Canada and it will be on the list again for many years to come! Simply fantastic!!!!
It has some spectacular views and offers a great track with nice greens. the staff is very attentive
They take care of you as soon as you arrive! Great views, Awesome Fairways, incredible Greens, make this a stop when you visit Maine. Sit on the deck have lunch, Enjoy!
Last year we were supposed to play the course but it had rained so much the course was unplayable/closed. The GM was kind enough to let us take a couple of carts and drive the course for a "look see". So, for a whole year, we had the images from that quick tour teasing us with what we'd missed out on. This year, it had again rained a bunch the night before our round, but the course was open, and we got there excited like little kids the night before Christmas. With all the expectations, I have to say the course did not disappoint! The practice green offers an almost 180° view over several lakes and the first hole and is pretty spectacular in its own right. From that first tee shot careening out of sight downhill to the last iron over the ravine into the narrow 18th with all sorts of places to avoid at all costs, the course alternates between really good and just amazing, with no letdowns of any sort. That is a rare quality in a golf course. This course is a bit off the beaten track, but it is so good, and the staff so nice, that you should splash the cash and make the drive to enjoy it for yourself!
We played this June 2013. Every aspect of the course was in great shape. It was cart path only the day we played, but that was because they had come out of a couple of days of rain. We played the course because they welcomed dogs to play along with you. We live on a golf course and take our dog with us all the time. This was a welcomed treat. By hole 12 our Maltese was pooped!. Great green complexes--surrounds, bunkers, slopes, and elevations all played into the approach equation. 8 index. Shot 80 from 6200 yards. Not cheap. $110 per person, but well worth the splurge.
When you visit this course, you know you are valued as a customer. All staff, from bag boys, to pro shop clerks, to food service greet you in a professional and valued manner. The course? Meticulous! Challenging but forgiving. I get to play this course only once a year, but when I do I always say this is the very best. They have 2 dogs by the clubhouse and, hey, they even make you feel special!
Played here recently as this was one of the courses in New England I wanted to play. The course is nicely designed and the greens are fast! The course layout is easy in my mind but forgiving. The back 9 is easier than the front. The employees take pride in what they do and if you haven't golfed here they will take your thru the holes. The carts are up to date and include bottled water. We didn't feel rushed during our play. Follow the course rules as these are enforced. We didn't get a chance to eat in the club house after our round but heard the food was very good. You can book your tee times on line or call in. We were fortunate to get a chance to play last minute. I will be playing here before the summer is out!
The Belgrade Lakes Golf Club ranks as one of the best in Maine, the Northeast Region, and the country. It's price has escalated to a lofty $160 in the summer, but as a bucket list experience, it was worth it. The place is a great layout, much more forgiving than the track slightly north, and is impeccably groomed both on the course and the surrounding areas. Combine with the crisp, clean air, the friendly staff, and the gorgeous course, a wonderful experience. I play the senior tees, she the forward, and they were both very helpful in enjoying the experience. Play it forward and enjoy it! Highly recommended for the course, the magnificent views (especially from the putting green awaiting your start) and the Maine experience.
