Our driver was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend using this company. We went to interesting places and had great food
Based on recommendations, the six of us chose Allan & his company for our half day wine tour. We were so very pleased we did, as we had a wonderful time. The experience was a perfect balance of fun and knowledge building. Allan even thought of a gift as a special consideration for my friend who was celebrating a 60th birthday on that day. The trip will be a fond memory for all of us. I cannot recommend Allan and his business highly enough. He goes above and beyond what I imagine most tour operators would do to ensure a great time for all.
We were a party of six staying in a house about 15 minutes out of Stanthorpe – I thought this may have been a problem but my fears were put to rest after speaking with Allan. It was no problem, he arranged for us to be picked us up first then we picked up the rest of the group from various hotels/motels/B&Bs around town then we were off.It was very enjoyable day visiting 6 wineries (if I remember correctly) plus a cheese factory, olive farm and chilli shop. A three course lunch was included in the price at one of the wineries and was great value.Room was made at the back of the bus for us to store our wine purchases along the way, none of the visits were rushed and there was no pressure to be back on the bus by a certain time, it felt like the tourists were setting the schedule.By the end of the day we were all good friends – a great memory of a beautiful part of SE Qld. We were dropped back at our house just after 5pm.The booking process and queries with Allan were painless – I’d recommend this excursion. Doug was our driver and a good one too.
What a great afternoon out. Allan was a wonderful guide and very knowledgable about the area. He took us to some great places. Very enjoyable and would have no hesitation about recommending this tour.
Having no itinerary meant that the trip was tailored to my tastes - literally!! One of the first questions Allan asked when he picked me up was "What do you like to drink?" and he took it from there. From 10am an eclectic tour of wineries, fruit, dairy and even a lavender farm followed which included free tastings and a two-course meal at one of the restaurants that are a feature of many of the Stanthorpe cellar doors. Allan is very passionate about Stanthorpe and the local primary produce industry and this shows through in his comments, enthusiasm and knowledge about the locations (and people) we visited. At every stop he was well known and as a consequence I was welcomed and treated with respect with no pressure to purchase - but I did - what was there not to like!! Although the groups are usually larger, Allan agreed to take me on my own which was greatly appreciated. He was prompt in his pick-up and at 5pm I was taken literally to my front door where he dropped off my goodies in a box he had provided. There was a chill box on the bus for my cheeses too. I had plenty of time for tasting and to wander around each establishment. There was time for a spot of sight-seeing after I have exhausted my capacity to visit any more wineries. I appreciated Allan's generous advice on places I could visit by myself on the next day. This is a tour company that I would thoroughly recommend to people wanting to explore the Stanthorpe region, its wineries and produce. I believe I received great value for money and flexibility is the keyword to Allan's success!!
Booked the wine tour through the Granite Highlands Maxi Tours website (www.maxitours.com.au). Response was fast and managed to book our tour easily. Our driver was Doug. Our tour started out as a private tour as we were the only couple touring that day. Which was great because we had free rein to decide which cellar doors we wanted to visit. At our second cellar door Golden Grove, we were joined by another couple of travellers. We enjoyed the company and had a really great time. We visited 6 cellar doors and stopped at Felsberg Cafe for lunch (included in the $85 tour fee). Our fellow travellers asked to be returned to their hotel early and we visited one last cellar door (Granite Ridge) before catching sunset at the "pyramid". Thanks Doug for a great day out!
Have just had three days Christmas in July/Wine Tour with Allan as driver. What a great time we had. Allan was the perfect guide as his local knowledge was first class. He took us to some extremely good places and we all (30 of us) had a ball. Will definitely try to use his company again next year and recommend other clubs to contact him.
What a great winery tour my sister and I experienced with Maxi Tours. We met a great bunch of people on the bus, all from Brisbane and very keen to start the wine tasting. It was such a fun day with a lot of laughs and everyone becoming very relaxed the more wineries we visited. Our coach driver, Allan, was very informative about the local area and the wineries we visited plus had a great sense of humour! We had a delicious lunch at Masons Wines before moving on to more tastings.Excellent day and would have no hesitation recommending this tour!!!Cheers, Allan, I hope we didn’t leave any wine on the bus!! Hiccup!!!
We had a party of 12 consisting of 6 kids & 6 Adults. Granite Maxi tours were great in providing a tour that cater to all. Our driver Doug was a lovely man who had great knowledge of the area. Our tour was a private tour & Doug was more than happy to take us anywhere we wanted to go. The cost was $85pp (half for children) & included a 2 course lunch at thunderbolt winery. The food was lovely. It's a really good way to acquaint yourself with the local area particularly if you are only visiting for a short time
A group of 13 from Lismore picked up and dropped off. We had the most amazing time. Everything was well organized and the weekend went off without a hitch. Our driver Doug was friendly and a great guy. Could not recommend this business enough. Communication when organising was smooth - and nothing was a problem. Thank you Allan. The meals on tour were great and the people at the wineries were fun and entertaining.
