Great small aquarium. Wonderful bird exhibit, salmon, sea lions and seal, exhibits as well. Fun for kids too.
I love mostly that this place is kept up well. It's clean, flows well, and provides great educational pieces. I only gave 4 out of 5 because it's kind of expensive for the short time you need to go through it. The gift shop is OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced. A not super special fleece vest will cost you about $165. I'd keep your kids out of there otherwise they may cry for an overpriced stuffed toy animal. The rest of the center is awesome though and handicap accessible!
We loved it. It's a small aquatic center with some wonderful attributes such as being able to touch the reef-life and get a truly better understanding of the sea lions and harbor seals. Puffins were fun too. It's well done and the staff is friendly and knowledgable.
Stopped fora quick peak at some marine life. It was definitely quick. I don't mind the steep price because I'm pretty sure it's going to marine life conservation but I feel that they should tell you what's under construction before you pay. It's just ok compared to other large aquariums. I really loved the "petting zoo" and the super informative employees.
Seems I never quit going back here, taking our guests time and time again. The folks that worked there were very educational and they always took time out to give the kids a hands on experience. We listened to the education tours that were provided and really enjoyed the lesson on the recent seal that came in injured. The doctors and therapy team there were amazing to listen to about their protocol and steps to help the injured animal. Will go back again the next time I visit.
My kids love this place (age 18 months and 4.) They have a hand on display of star fish and other sea life that you can reach in and touch. Beautiful views of Resurrection Bay, lots of different displays, and unique art.
Close to downtown Seward, near local restaurants and shops, this place is amazing ... don't miss it.The building is extremely well-designed, and beside the living animals, includes some great information about Alaska, the world and marine live, supported in interactive displays, video and posters. There are plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the acrobatics of the seals and sea lions, or touch in the complex "docks undersea" creatures that you'd never see otherwise. The sea lions were incredible cute to see under the water as well as above. Be prepared to meet the Big Octopus. Regarding puffins Is a great place to see them swimming underwater and, if above, they can be only 10 inches of your nose ... really fantastic. The Center works also in rehabilitation done with injured sea animals and marine birds and the staff were very professional and helpful in answer to all our group questions. Of course there is a gift shop with great and unique souvenirs. We really enjoyed our visit to the Alaska Sea Life Center ... if weather permits step outside and enjoy the beautiful views of Resurrection Bay. Tip: pay a bit more and don't miss the "behind scenes tours" with a back stage pass
Great way to see the animals/sealife front and center- kids will love! If memory serves funds from EXXOn and the Valdez oil spill help to fund this attraction
I didn't expect to find an aquarium in such a small town but its there! The Center has a large display of sea animals and there is lots to learn while visiting there. Great for children!
Great to take the kids to see the seals and marine birds etc at this great sealife centre. We really enjoyed the time looking at all the exhibits and watching the videos. A must visit for your time in Seward.
