A museum in an historic building and free. Very nice exhibits of the history of this area. Well worth a visit.
The courthouse has been well preserved and is still being restored in a few areas. Very informative of the southeast area of South Dakota giving in site into the rich history of not only the early settlers but the Native Americans who first inhabited it. There is no admission and parking is free which sweetens the visit even more.
Beautiful old courthouse building that has been preserved. Free admission. Interesting exhibits. Really enjoyed the exhibits with the builders of Sioux Falls and the different types of architecture. The old room that was the court room and gallery were also nice.
Beautiful museum where I appreciated the section dedicated to chairs through time. That of the dentist of former days illustrates well the progress of chairs of today. The section with the artefacts of the American Western is also interesting.
Great way to get a feeling of what our forfather's and their families experienced years ago. Very nicely done right in downtown Sioux Falls. An enjoyable few hours.
They don't build them like this anymore. Turning this Old Courthouse into a Museum is wonderful. There is a lot of History in this old building. It is free, but please leave a donation to help preserve this work of art.
We stopped in because of the old historic building. Easy parking in the adjacent lots and a splendid variety of informative history displays. We liked that they have several areas where you can get "hands on" at the exhibit. They have a cute souvenir shop too. It costs nothing to visit and you learn a lot about the Sioux Falls area before it became a city and throughout its development.
A stop on the Sioux Falls Transit Trolley, this is a MUST !! Local and State history is abundant here, with many artifacts and helpful descriptions. In its time, this building was the biggest courthouse between Chicago and Denver. Now it's a GEM of a museum.
If you like history and historic building this is a place to visit. Had a nice charm to it. Was surprised to find it downtown, but those little unexpected places are usually the best. Check it out!
This was an amazing structure & interior. Great exhibits. Very easy & pleasant. A lot of history, and we all enjoyed what we saw & read. Easy, easy.
