Went for a walk park was a perfect place to go. Nice walking path. Also bike trails, picnic areas, tennis courts and a playground area for kids.
This large park is a great place to get out and enjoy nature. There is plenty of space to run, walk, bike, fly planes, play ball, picnic, etc. The dog park is divided into two sections - one for large dogs and one for small ones. It can get crowded on weekends and later in the day, so it is better to go early. Dogs can swim in the pond and there is a hose to wash them off.
Park as mountain bike trail, shooting range, RC plane field, RC car crawl track, camping area, jet ski, bike trail and lot more....
I huge park with countless activities. I am a fisherman and have a few secret spots in the park where i really catch a lot of fish! I drive the park to watch policemen target shoot as well as the public and am really fascinated with the remote airplane experts with their drones all over the place!
Didn't know what expect. Was super surprised to find the small airport for RCA with a very active group. Lots of fun for the kids. They also had a boat group. Shooting range for those that like to practice. Over all a very well rounded park. Lots to do for those who have a bike. Great place to camp if you are in the camping mood.
My husband and I along with our two boys decided to try tent camping over the New Year holiday. Bought all the gear thinking that it would be good weather and would be great; however it decided to rain the first night and it was so humid that the mosquitoes formed a virtual blanket over everything. I guess they can't do much about the mosquitoes, but I didn't appreciate stumbling across red ant hills that seemed to be all over our campsite and among the grass on the side of the road to get to the bathrooms. Speaking of the bathrooms- very poor! No air conditioning so you sweat every minute you are in there. Women's room ran out of toilet paper the first night. Second day when we took showers the women's room was OK, but in the men's room one shower only had cold water and the other was too scalding to use. We opted not to give our three year old a shower for that reason. Got woken up at the crack of dawn by the sound of gunfire from the shootingrange.I suppose if you go in a travel trailer or RV and you have your own bathroom and a couple of bikes to explore the area it probably wouldn't be too bad, but I would never recommend it for tent camping!
Only dislikes were ... $1.50 entrance fee per person and the codes on the bathrooms to access.Clean park and nice setting to celebrate a family memorial.
Nice park for picnic and biking. Has a part for dogs...love that place.I heard that camping at this park is fun.Located in the middle of Plantation and Weston.
I love this park on the weekends because it offers so many different types of activity opportunities. You can jog or fly your remote control planes or boats, or simply take your dog to the doggie park. There is an access card you must pay for and obtain through park services for the dog park gate. The park is lovely, and has large parking lots. I took my daughter there to learn how to drive a car. During weekdays, its not busy and there are plenty of empty slots for her to learn to park. There is a gunrange in the very end of the park which is usually not in use and this large empty area allowed me to teach her how to drive in reverse and parallel park. She drove in the park for almost 6 months until she felt comfortable driving our vehicle , she learned how to maneuver her vehicle easily in and out of a parking slots, making left and right turns, not to mention, sunset driving with sun in her eyes as an oncoming vehicle approach in another lane, as well as teaching defensive driving to look out for children playing, bikes, and possible hazards when there is multiple things happening. She had her restricted license but, no prior driving experience and after several months, she was ready to practice in regular traffic. The park helped my family and I with alot of patience, she is a better driver because, we took our time at the park getting familiar with the car as well as developing a sense of defensive alertness. I hope this helps the next mom out there who is about to embark on this same experience. My daughter had taken a defensive driving online course and with our time at the park is now ready for the roads. She is a good driver and keeps her eyes looking forward to avoid risks and drive cautiously safely, she learned to drive at a safe slow speed around children. This park is a great place to learn how to drive. Best of luck future drivers.Oh did I mention, my nerves were alot more in control after she spent all that time driving insie the large park I would of not wanted to learn on the streets as they head out into their driving experience. .
The landscaping in general is really well-maintained. It's a great place to picnic, play ball, bike, walk or run. It costs $1.50 a person on weekends but is free during the week. The dog park is not as well-kept. You have to pay $25 a year to use the dog park. There are two area, one for dogs under 25 lbs and one for dogs over 25 pounds. It opens at 8:00 but can get crowded after 9:00. It is packed on weekends.
