When we arrived the parking lot was very full, which had us a bit nervous. After registering in the pro shop we and talking to the starter, they said they weren't busy, yet we were surprised to be waiting at the first 4 holes. The starter was new and didn't have any info on the course, other than where hole #1 was. The front nine although it was very lovely the greens had been aerated recently and weren't very smooth, impossible to read the greens. This was a fact left out when we called to make a tee time. They told us the greens were fast a 9 out of 10, a bit deceiving. However when we made the turn we found the course to ourselves, nobody in front or behind, and the greens in a much better shape. Had this been the case on the front 9 I would have rated this course higher. I will say it is probably better to call the pro shop for a tee time, as booking on the internet we would've paid $56 or something like that, by calling the pro shop we got a rate of $30 with a donation of 3 canned food items for a local food bank. Also we never saw a beverage cart on the course for refreshments. It wasn't a bad course, but since we had to drive 2 1/2 hours to get there it was kind of a let down. If I was to stay in Myrtle Beach I would consider playing again.
Just an outstanding track. The Cat courses were all in pristine shape and a wonderful playiny experience.
Just finished a round at Panthers Run and it is a pretty good course to play. Cost me 42 dollars. Fairways were ok. Some of the overseeded grass appeared to have a little disease but nothing that would affect your play. Granted it was the middle Of January but we did not see a single other group on a Saturday. Greens were very hard and fast. Don't be fooled by the putting green it is much slower than the real greens. Also the course web page claims to have wide open fairways but they were pretty tight on the front. Not so much on the back. Didn't play very well but overall had a very good time on a very quiet peaceful course and would highly recommend it to anyone.
I am a beginner and found the course lovely to play; beautifully laid out, some challenges, not insanely difficult, fun hazards. Plenty of water to play around, nicely placed traps. As a threesome, we took first off at 7am and were finished by 11am. Play is steady, even as a beginner. I shot a 114 as this was my most challenging play to date. I would love top play here again.
Interesting holes with more water than Lion's Paw. Our Kings Point golf group enjoyed the course. Pro shop service is good and rates are reasonable.
The course is laid out well and is generally in good condition. However, there are a lot of bare spots with roots in the rough and the cart paths are full of holes and root uprisings. The owners could also spend some money on more rakes for the bunkers and filling in several cave-ins on some holes. There are a lot of other options for golf in the area.
I liked this better than Tiger's Eye but there are better choices in Myrtle. But it's part of a 4 course layout so you can replay on another course if your up for 36.
Teed off Friday, May 25 at 8:50. Played here with a group in town for a wedding. First - I used to play golf, I am now a duffer. High expectations, inconsistent results.Staff was very friendly and helpful, actually cheerful. Cart was in good shape. I appreciated the club and ball cleaner on the cart. Awning to keep rain off clubs was a nice touch as it rained pretty hard for a few minutes. Course turns a lot. So knowledege of layout helps. Scorecard map not always accurate. Hazards are well placed for average golfers. If you can hit it long it helps on most holes. Hurts you on some. This is not a factor in my game.Cart paths are horrible. Very broken and rough. Rattled the cart pretty good. (brother in law rated them worse. Fairways are in decent shape. Roll was ok and an appropriate number of bunkers was interesting. Rough is cut pretty short. Mowing crew was sensitive to our play. That said they also left enormous piles of clippings in their wake everywhere they mowed.Greens were not particularly interesting. Not much variety in pitch. Greens were very different in condition. Some soft. Some hard. Some slow. Some fast. Grass length on greens was varied. Most were pretty rough and you got a lot of ball bounce putting. Greens were in good condition around the cup which made it easier to make that third putt. Fringe area around many grees was rough. Transition was not smooth. Tee boxes were very rough. Not a lot of flat. Your feet were often above or below your ball. All that said I did have fun and enjoyed the course. I think that it is hard to manage a course at the coast. Especially one that gets a fair amount of play.
This is a course when you play, you will say it is ok but what will I remember about i? Usually in good shape, but will you go back. It is not as good as the other Cats!
A decent course built around a community of homes. The course has some interesting holes. Condition was good but not great. We got a decent price booking online at the last minute. We waited on every hole and that makes for a bad round. They sent us out ahead of our time to get ahead of a group of 12 thank goodness otherwise we would never have finished our round.
