First of all let me say this, the staff here are by far the nicest people in the world, and will do everything in there power to make you feel welcome! It's a fantastic place to learn about Woody Guthrie and they do have a traveling exhibition that is currently A Beatles exhibit which is honestly amazing!
Located in the charming Brady Arts District. A nice place to spend some time when in Downtown Tulsa. Different art showings happening so its alway changing. The First Friday of the month are free and theres always a lot going on in the area during first Fridays.
I never heard of Woody Guthrie, but i have heard the popular song. The guy at reception was so enthusiastic you couldn't help but get excited to see what was inside. watching the movie about him really told you allot about him.
We enjoyed this museum. It firmly placed the life and music of Guthrie in the context of his era. We learned a lot and enjoyed the interactive exhibits. For those who enjoy American history and American music, this is a great place to spend a few hours.
Couldn't wait to get here and it was even better than I'd hoped. Learned so much about this American icon. Loved all the headphone music choices and informative tributes and tidbits about his life, influence, talents, and music.
We went here not knowing what to expect. We were blown away! It is very high tech and has a lot of very cool interactive exhibits. It has all kinds of artifacts from Woody's life. If you like Bob Dylan, there is a lot of his stuff here to. A must if in Tulsa!
Learned a little about Tulsa's history and how music can bring people together. They had Woody's history and his instruments there too.
We went with non music fans.....everyone enjoyed it. It is more than music.....Okie history, 30's and 40's history, dustbowl stories, etc. Highly recommended.
Learned so much more about Woody Guthrie and his peers, the times, and Oklahoma in general. An added perk was the Bruce Springsteen photo exhibit. Highly recommend this stop as it also lead us to a great part of town to shop and eat.
Got to go to woodie Guthrie center- close, small, easy. It is cool that this exists n tulsa. Woodie Guthrie is an icon. It doesn't take long to go through this
