Well my friends have been trying to fish near the Salmon farms and they just didn't catch anything the whole trip. So we happen to drive past this place and wanting to grab some sashimi! Boy I manage to have my first catch and have our meal serve sashimi style! But the chef doesn't seem to know how to cut sashimi salmon, I had like fish bones in my sashimi and its not those melt in your mouth type, its those chewy type. I would recommend if you know how to cut, do it yourself. Other than that it's pretty much easy to fish!!
With only one car parked there, we thought it may have been closed, though walked through and were pleasantly surprised. Hired a fishing line, and after about 20 mins and a near miss, caught a whopper. The staff weighed, cleaned, filleted and seasoned the fish and placed it straight into the smoker. 15 mins later we were eating the tastiest, most delicious salmon ever. My wife couldn't eat all of her fillet and ate the rest that night. Great fun fishing, then the best meal to follow - hard to beat and well worth the visit if you're up this way.
My husband's cousin was visiting from the UK and had never been fishing so we brought her here for a fun afternoon. It took sometime for us to catch a fish as we didn't get the pellets, but we had a lovely time. Got the fish smoked and it was fabulous. Our toddler enjoyed the sandpit and playground. Look forward to coming back.
Great facility, we were fortunate to take three salmon away, one for each of us, the largest at almost 3 kilos. Whilst we enjoyed a nice cool drink in the shade of a lovely pergola our fish was cleaned, filleted and packed for us to take away. It was a perfect day out.
We caught our Salmon after 3 casts, which if anything was too fast! It's good fun and then you get to eat the beast. Absolutely perfectly smoked! Can't recommend this place enough. One tip though - try to get there before the crowds, i.e. at opening time.Check out more photos and my full write up at www.sarnim.com/farewell-spit/
My young boy and I enjoyed the fishing (very easy to catch a fish) and we all enjoyed getting it smoked and consuming it :-) There was a brilliant-displayed peacock near the carpark that enjoyed spending time with us.
What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours - beats shopping for your dinner !! A tranquil setting, having a go at fishing for the first time, lots of help to ensure you catch something who could ask for more. You get more because the helpful staff clean, gut and fillet the fish you catch and hot smoke it !! Take it home or eat in - fantastic idea - I really enjoyed my time there. The owner was lovely and friendly. Also no catch of the day no pay - great idea !!! They even have some in the freezer if you really didn't manage to catch one !!
We visited Anatoki arriving at 10am New Years Day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My son and I had landed 6 decent sized fish within an hour. We smoked two of the fish (eating one for lunch) and bagged the rest. There's nothing like fresh fish. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Many thanks to the team at Anatoki.
Great place, but did not catch a fish! We had to give up after 90 minutes as we had a toddler who was running out of patience. Was very busy and a hot day so maybe this was the problem. My husband has been twice before and had no problem quickly catching one. Taste beautiful once smoked by them.
As we were celebrating hubby's birthday and fishing is his passion - 22 of us plus 5 kids decided Anatoki Salmon farm would be the place to go. The staff were so accommodating - from explaining the fishing smoking procedure to seating us all with plates and eating gear. They didn't mind that we bought our own salad and drinks, even though they serve a menu. After catching and eating as much as we could, the wonderful staff then vacuum packed the remaining fillets to enjoy another day. Thank you "Anatoki Salmon" for making us all so welcome, and giving all of us a fun day.......Not just the birthday boy.
