I could have checked every month as when I visited, because I do go there that often. There is the zoo, the little train, the Carousel in the Park, the Reinisch Rose Garden, and in summer the Blaisdell Pool. There are admission charges for some of these attractions, but there are acres and acres of park to walk through for free, with flowering plants, specimen trees, rock gardens, and several ponds;great places for bird watching and photography and of course picnics. The park is really pretty and well-maintained. Our kids are a little older so not a lot for them, but I can see where younger kids would enjoy the play structures, etc. The rose garden was very pretty and picturesque ... we just enjoyed being outside and surrounded by lots of trees and manicured lawns and flowers.
swimming, playground, zoo, ball park, tennis court, rose garden, train rides & carousal just a few things for any outing. rent a shelter house, pick one of many tables & grill or find a quiet spot thro down a blanket and read a book.
This is a beautiful park in the middle of city. Be sure to visit the Rose Garden and ride the train.
We spent a little time in the rose garden. The flowers were beautiful and the garden was peaceful. We saw a blue heron fishing in a pond there.
Fun! Took my grandsons 2 and 5 to the Zoo and to ride on the train. We all had a great time. The park is clean, with plenty of parking. I just wish I had had time to bring a picnic basket. There were grills, playground, animal sculptures for the children to climb, as well as a small train and a carousel.
Just the right price, and size for a zoo trip with a6 and a 4year old granddaughters. Not really fond of zoos so this was just right for me and them.
Great for families. Picnic areas, zoo, rose gardens, train, merry go round, swimming pool and handicapped play equipment provide activities. Helen Hocker Theater and the band shell provide performances. Check with Shawnee County Parks and Recreation.
Nothing like strolling around the zoo, seeing all the monkey's and lions, giraffe's. Feeding the animals. Love those mountain lions, and close to the casino about a 15 to 20 minute drive.
Great for a kid outing. The zoo isn't very big, but there is lots to see. After the zoo we rode the train around the park and had a picnic. We found a merry go round and beautiful botanical gardens. There's even a swimming pool! Great day with the kids!
