Visby is a short flight from Stockholm's Bromma airport or a longer ferry ride from Nynashamn - about 35 miles south of Stockholm. Visby is on the lovely island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea - Sweden's largest island. Visby is an old medieval walled city that is perfect for strolling around. Though, it's quite crowded in the summer, it's still large enough to find a quiet lane somewhere. The pubs & restaurants are great (on the pricey side) but with good food and the local Gotland beer. The Botanical Gardens are free and make for a pretty stop in Visby. By all means though rent a bike and also bike out on the island of Gotland. My first recommendation for a bike trip is to the majestic Högklint Cliffs south of Visby. When you see the view, you won't be sorry. Visby & Gotland are highly recommended.
Visby has a very well preserved medieval wall enclosing the Old Town. The Old Town itself is also well preserved and very lovely with lovely parks. We took a guided bicycle tour which included both the Old Town and the area outside the town. It was a great way to see it.
Vi gillade allt.Banan var i ett perfekt skick.Bra med parkering.Trevligt klubbhus, bra mat och service.Golf shopen var väl försedd och golfbilen fungerade perfekt.Vänligt bemötande vidbukningen.
Visby's first nine holes are by far and away the most beautiful in Sweden and unless raw power and course length are your first requirements, I would also venture that they are the best!I actually appreciated the views the most when I went caddying for my wife and son a blessed evening, so feel free to bring your non-golfing friends or family members on a walk with you on these holes. The welcome and the food in the clubhouse are excellent so they will be well taken care of while you negotiate the back nine, which is also fantastic, so you will leave this place with a smile on your face, even if the scorecard does not tell the same story. To score well you will probably need many rounds to learn where to place your shots and a benign day, weather-wise. That is, unless you are visiting from Ireland or Scotland. If you do, you will neither be disappointed, nor feel out of place.
It's a links course - nothing special about it. It is one of the better courses in the region, but one could ask for more.
Strolling around this medieval city is fun, and interesting for awhile. But it is dominated by tourist shops/restaurants and there seems to be nothing of the present local of interest. The past can be seen in a few hours. The 'new town' is worth a visit if you wish free wifi (outside the MacDonalds or at the library) or to purchase items in a grocery.
Well, it is a very beautiful golf course with a number of holes just beside the sea. We played on the day before (a Thursday) Midsummers eve and it started off quite nice with a lunch and we had a tee time around 1.15 PM. We came back to get a beer at the 19th hole and was "welcomed" with the news that the restaurant was closed. This was around 5.20 PM! This turned this golf experience to a rather poor experience. It was like "you can have a beer when its suits us" and that kind of ignorance regarding guests/customers will not bring me back to play a round of golf here again.
A wonderful golf course and the staff are helpful and courteous! My wife and I have played a lot of "great" golf courses in Europe, but we would rate this as one of the most enjoyable to play. Very scenic on all holes, and an interesting layout. If you golf, and get to Gotland Island, try to play this course!
