Our vacations started 16 years ago at Voyageur Park Lodge, beautiful spot, great cabins and awesome service. It started out with just my husband and I and now we have our children and grandchildren join us and we reserve two weeks in the summer. It doesn't get better then Voyageur Park Lodge, not to mention Kab is a beautiful lake, the fishing is great and the islands and wildlife are awesome, this lake is so big you will never see all of it in a life time. We have stayed in most the cabins at VPL over the years and they are all have great views and are clean and comfortable, but our favorite is The Point! Just my two cents on where you should vacation Up in Northern Minnesota.
My husband and I have been coming to Voyageur Park Lodge for 9 years. We love the area, Voyageur Park and lake Kabetogama. This is an awesome place to come to just relax and leave behind the demands of everyday life! Cell phone use is very limited (I can receive text messages only) but if you must connect there is free wi fi available at the lodge. We absolutely love the quiet, my husband loves feeding the chipmunks, (they climb his leg for peanuts) and there is always some deer around for you to see. The cabins are rustc but very clean and well maintained with lots of privacy. The boats are well kept and we really enjoy having a dock boy. There is always someone there as you go out and someone there to help you when you return to dock. They also will clean and package your fish for transport home. We are from Indiana where the summers are hot and humid so we really enjoy the comfortable temps. There are some very interesting things to do that are close to the lodge. We have taken a boat tour to Kettle Falls, enjoyed the Vince Shute bear sanctuary and quite a few very good places to eat upon Casey's recommendations. Casey and Anna are a wonderful friendly couple that are eager to help in any way to make your stay most enjoyable!!
I spent the night at the Woodenfrog campground and awoke before sunrise to watch the beauty of nature unfold as I sat behind the CCC dinning house next to the boat launch. This Voyageurs National Park entrance offers a little more to do and see without a boat. With glimpses of rocky shorelines and nature and wildlife all around you. Once again the visitors center was closed as I came in late and was out early, but there are 2 boat launches, some trails and lots of great scenery. Enjoy!
We paid 280.00 for 7 family members to take the boat from Kabetogama visitors center to Kettle Falls. We were supposed to have 2 hours on the island . We went immediately to the restaurant after the 2 hour long boat ride. Our order was taken immediately ,we sat in the restaurant for one hour and forty five minutes!!! When we only had 15 minutes left to explore the island we told the waitress we noticed all the tables who came in behind us had all been served and we could no longer wait. She said, Well they are with the boat tour. And we said so are we !!! The manager then said, we are short staffed. I guess if you are short staffed you serve people in a random order ? Not as they come in ? By this time my nieces blood sugar had dropped and she was feeling dizzy. We went back to the boat to get her the crackers and trail mix we had brought along. we told our guides ( Who also had lunch ) and they exact reply was " THE TIME ON THE ISLAND IS YOUR OWN" I disagree, we had no time n our own on the island. This day was a wasted day of vacation and 280.00 wasted. Hire a rpivate guide, take your own boat and bag a lunch. Kettle falls is owned by voyagers, they need to take responsibility for it. A full refund is due.
We have been going to Lake Kabetogama for 30 years plus. We have had friends who had a cabin up there for years and have stayed with them. Our son searched out a place where our whole family could go and have a great time. He found voyagers Park Lodge. What a great place to stay. Casey and Anna who own and run the resort are great folks. It is a real family resort. The lake can't be beat and the view from this resort is great. All I can say is go see it for yourself. If you want see what the north country is all about check out there web cam. RegardsAl and Carol
It is so beautiful it makes me realize how God does all things well! We have many family memories that were made there.
I've been staying at Voyageur Park Lodge for the last four season's in June, with my family. I have been fishing this lake since five years old. My dad didn't have a good fishing boat when I was a kid. Owning my own boat and knowing the lake after all these years I would rather put my boat on Casey's docks than anywhere else on the lake. Not only do you get shelter for your rig, but you get one of the best views of the lake. The privacy is unmatched, the view is spectacular, and I have yet to meet better hosts on the lake than Casey and Anna. If you want to be left alone it's perfect, if you want to hang out on the dock, it's even better. I could go on for days about my love for Voyageur Park Lodge, but you still gotta come up and see it for yourself, you wont be disappointed.Yours sincerely,Troy, Ariana, and Jackson StJohn. Come catch some fish!
I have been going up to Kab for 60 years. My husband and I go to Sandy Point Lodge and are always treated like family. Fishing is great and there is always something to do.
If you are looking for a very private, quiet, rustic place with unbeatable scenery, then Voyageur Park Lodge is the place for you. The cabins are a bit older, but are well maintained and have everything you should need. My husband and I have stayed here the past 4 years and can't wait to go back. Casey, Anna, and staff are extremely accommodating and truly want their guests to have the best vacation possible. They present a very laid back, casual demeanor around the guests yet eagerly fulfill any requests (i.e. fish cleaning, gas, cords for battery charging, etc.) promptly.
We took the water taxi to the peninsula then hiked to Crane Lake to our rented canoe. The hike was beautiful with lots of places to stop and take in the beauty. The hike took us 2.5 hours one way. Very enjoyable day with nothing but peace and nature. Total time with the water taxi, hiking and canoeing was 9 hours. We could have stayed longer but a storm was approaching. We made it back just in time to watch a lightning show over the lake from the safety of the lodge. Take water and food and be prepared.
