We have visited this winery previously and had found friendly and helpful staff and some great wines on offer. This visit was even better. We spent a leisurely hour and a half trying more than a dozen different wines aided by the wonderful Robyn Pfeiffer. The new vintage Gamay was delightful as were the Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. I particularly enjoyed the Sparkling Pfizz Red (Pinot Noir) and the Classic Topaque and Muscat fortifieds. We decided we had to bring home a dozen across the range we tasted. As the weather was very warm we then enjoyed a glass under the shade of the trees overlooking the wonderful bridge on the property.A must visit winery in the Rutherglen/Wahgunyah region.
Dear Pblanchard,Thank you so much for your lovely comments on our winery, our staff, in particularly Angelina, and our wines. We are always thrilled to receive these positive reviews and we love sharing them with our entire team. We hope to see you in Rutherglen again very soon. Cheers The Pfeiffer Team
Thank you so much for your feedback and your positive review of Pfeiffer Wines. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience and we would look forward to your return visit.Cheers, The Pfeiffer Team
Dear MenziesTreen, thank you so much for your review and recommendation. Our whole team at Pfeiffers work hard to provide the level of service that delivers positive experiences for our visitors. It is rewarding to the team, and in particularly in this instance, to Kylie and Jen, that it worked so well for you all on the weekend. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Cheers. The Pfeiffer Team
We did a tour of the Beechwood/Rutherglen/Kings Valley wineries over a long weekend and Pfeiffer was our (p)favourite of the dozen we visited. Staff in the tasting room were really knowledgeable and helpful, without being over-eager. The wines were all outstanding, but in particular we loved the unusual varieties they produce, notably the Frontignac and Marsanne, which are fabulous value-for-money. Unfortunately there was a private function on so we couldn't go for lunch, which was a shame as we'd been told the food was great too. But we had a walk round the grounds, which are really lovely. If the restaurant is open this would make a lovely half-day trip - tasting, then lunch, then a leisurely stroll. Can't wait to come back to Australia to go again, as we can't buy the wines in the UK!
This was a return visit to Pfeiffers, the first time we weren't overly impressed with the service, but this time it was fantastic! Our server was engaging, knowledgeable & just lovely. She helped my party with the pick of wines they might like (she didn't get any wrong!) and also rang & booked the cafe we wanted to go to for lunch. Definitely on the recommended visit list.
Picking up a number of tourist information brochures, one stood out ..Pfeiffer Picnic Hampers - “Picnic on our "pfamous" bridge, under our century old pine trees or simply on the green grass within our beautiful grounds with one of our delicious picnic hampers from The Pickled Sisters Cafe.” This just ‘had to be done’ so, together with a couple of friends, we booked and headed out on a very windy day on our bikes. The ride (battling head winds) was worth it. We started our visit with a wine tasting to select our wine for lunch and then were given our hamper .. unfortunately, due to the winds we were unable to sit on the Bridge, however, we were made more than comfortable in a cabana on the side the Bridge and almost out of the wind. The food choices were excellent and plenty of options for me (a non-meat eater). We decided not to book the vegetarian option on this occasion due to the excellent meat options for my husband!! :-)This is definitely the way to ‘do a picnic’ .. beautiful food all ready for you with your own choice of wine and a great setting. We also returned on the final night of our stay for their Bridge Bar. This time we were able to enjoy lovely wine cocktails (our first ones ever!) sitting on the Bridge. Our favourite was made with Seriously Pink (Apera), slice of orange and with a birds eye chili wiped around the top of the glass … Seriously Delicious!! We were also able to purchase a couple of wines to take home with us.Again, another must do on a lovely summer’s evening.
Visited as part of the Tastes of Rutherglen winery tour.Staff were extremely knowledgable and attentive considering the crowds. Food served was delicious and wine was of course divine.Worth a visit for the beautiful setting alone. Will be coming back again and again!
Best tasting we had in the area, mostly due to Jean who was so funny and enthusiastic. Make sure you look for Jean if you are here for wine tasting. The ground is also lovely for a picnic.
great service, lots of range, plenty of wines you've never tired before and something for every taste. Worth the visit and if you have time a walk down to the river is a nice break to work off some of the wine.
