This is a great place to stop and check out, this is a good, safe and VERY CLEAN halfway point on our trips to visit my wife's family near Council Bluffs Iowa. We always stop and fuel up, use the restrooms and grab food here on our way through. We can always count on the Iowa 80 for being a safe place to stop with a variety of food to choose from, we have eaten in at all the restaurants they have to offer from Wendy's, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut Express to the Iowa 80 Kitchen and haven't been disappointed yet. Of all the restrooms we've used on trips we can count on the Iowa 80's to be the cleanest, their team seems to take a huge amount of pride in their cleanliness, not only with the restrooms but the entire complex! And after more than 15 stops we've never seen this place in less than immaculate condition. Its convenient, and somewhat fast unless you want to take some time to take in the atmosphere and check the place out as there is allot to see especially the area of the complex known as "The Chrome Shop", quite impressive with semi tractors on display all decked out in chrome! It's a little difficult to get out of the lot when leaving during busy times, a traffic light might actually help traffic flow during this time with the volume of truck traffic at the intersection. We would recommend taking the time to stop and check this place out, its Awesome!!
I travel in an RV and had just bought a new RV from a seller in South Dakota. On my way back home I made stops at the "must see" attractions which included the Iowa 80 Truck Stop. This place is HUGE! It's like a truck stop, mall, service center and entertainment stop in general. It's obvious why the truckers love it - EVERYTHING a trucker could need on the road. I had a great time there and even stayed the night in the RV parking area. The next morning as I was leaving I got a better view of just how big the place was. Bottom line - if you're passing the Iowa 80 (especially if you're on vacation) take the time and make the stop. It's just fun!
Its the world's largest because of the parking area, but the inside is huge also. You'll find in the truckers area, a full-size as in real tractor/trailer plus at least one other truck which is used for to display various items for sale. This locations has three fast food joints plus a "sit down" restaurant. There is something for everyone here as there are toys for the kids, plenty of "nick-knacks" for the women and if you go upstairs you can view all the pictures from trucking's past. A "Must See" at least once.
The worls largest truck stop is that. A truck stop. If your one of those truckers who likes to load his truck up with chrome and flair... your in heavenIf your in a car its a place to buy another shot glass from Iowa or a horse/Indian statue or that kitty statue that is oh so precious. The diner is that, a diner with a buffet and fat food.
This is like a small mall. When was the last time you saw a 2 hour parking limit at a truck stop?? They have anything and everything for truckers and 4 wheelers traveling I80, stop and check it out!
Worlds Largest? Maybe so. It is very clean and the employees are midwest quality Americans. The interesting attraction to me was the tractor trailor inside the showroom and a full tilt boogie tractor cab all tricked out in chrome and lights. As others have said, the knick knacks and gifts pretty much made this long time lover of the road family guy stay over an hour.
We passed by in August and I just wish we'd had more time! U gotta see it atleast once if you are in trucking or like truck history. Large store and gift shop. My husband had a custom vinyl made for me. I think they also do embroidery. Even the ladies bathroom is cool with facts hanging on the walls.
My sister recommended this place, and I thought, "Okay, another truck stop" Boy was I wrong. I highly recommend everyone stop in here. Maybe catch a movie, or see a dentist or just pick up something to remember Iowa by.
This truck stop is amazing. We ate in the Kitchen and the service was excellent. Karla was great, super friendly! We had the grilled cheese with bacon and the pork tenderloin. Both sandwiches were amazing. They have Pepsi products though. But the food was very fresh. The shops inside have everything!! You can buy anything...t-shirts, swords, toys, shot glasses, dvd's, anything! Anything you can possibly think of you can find it here. There's a rotating semi you can sit in. Showers, fast food, dentist, barber shop, chiropractor, convenient store, restaurant, gift shops. It's awesome. We spent a good two hours here. We walked around and saw everything and bought souvenirs. The restrooms were pretty clean. The restaurant was clean. The floors throughout the entire place weren't sticky. It was actually very clean. Most of the people working there were pretty friendly. The parking lot was huge. I would go back next time I'm traveling through the area.
I'm pretty sure Optimus Prime lives here, and the t-shirt selection was first class in terms of wolves howling at the moon.
