I came here for a wedding. The church was magnificent, a real treasure. It was like taking a trip back in time to a more traditional church. It was a beautiful place for a wedding, with a very long aisle and a large altar.
When you first see this church-particularly from a distance-it reminds you of the churchs and cathedrals you often see in Europe. The beauty isn't diminished as you get closer but as you do you realize that it's right on the edge of a seedy looking neighborhood, so be careful.
St. Anne's is not just a church, but classified as an actual Shrine. There is a relic of St. Anne (the grandmother of Jesus) on site. For this reason, the highway was actually built around it. The restoration of the inside has begun, and is beautiful. It is a wonderful venue for a wedding, but there are also Roman Catholic masses served every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., and all are welcome. The current pastor, Father Morosso delivers great and relatively brief sermons. It is worth the visit even for non-Catholics to see the inside.
I have often seen this church from I-84 on my travels between Boston and NY and was intrigued to see what it was like inside. I got caught in a late December snowstorm while traveling home and decided to satisfy my curiosity before I left in the morning.I went inside and it was everything I hoped it would be. Beautifully maintained and magnificently inspiring. I had a chance to see the beautiful Christmas decorations including the quietly inspirational nativity scene.Worth the visit particularly if you are a practicing Catholic.
beautiful church in the south side of waterbury ct great bingo night but be care not a great area at night
The church is beautiful and worth a visit! I just found out recently that my great-grandfather helped build it!
I enjoyed taking a few photos of this beautiful historic church. It was closed when we went but the detail in the exterior of the building is just gorgeous.
Best church for incredible music incredible beauty incredible architectural details .. Incredible brilliant priest with " pastor' s pen" a written summary of his message and thoughts to ponder. This man is immersed with passion for his obvious calling . This is a special place.......
We had to go to a wedding there a few months ago. It is a beautiful church and the architecture is really awesome. It was ornate and so nicely decorated with flowers and the church itself. It was beautiful and if you ever go near there, stop in and take a look yourself.
Located in sight of I 84, and quite near the Cross of Waterbury, this magnificent church was filled with Canadian worshipers. Unfortunately, it is now a shrine for few ceremonies. I believe the present religious tradition is that it is a special sanctuary for mothers and woman seeking graces for their family and inner peace. Saint Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary, and thus the grandmother of Jesus the Christ. It is a lovely place of prayer for all people, check time and days of open to the public.
