Love this winery. Nice setting and always a lot of fun. Our dog is always welcome and they now have a doggy run area. Good wine, good music and a great atmosphere
In April 2014, my wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at this lovely winery. We have been visiting 8 Chains North almost since they first opened. On New Year’s Eve of 2010, we had friends visiting from various parts of the world, and they wanted to experience wine tasting in the United States. I called several wineries in Loudoun County and all of them were closed that day. Then Ben Renshaw, owner of 8 Chains North Winery, called me back. I told him about our visitors, and he immediately said "we are closed, but I will be happy to open for you and your friends". We did not know Ben and we thought that was an exceptionally kind gesture. Ben provided outstanding service and our visitors left happy to have their wine tasting experience at such a lovely location, while enjoying the excellent wine that 8 Chains North provides. As for our wedding anniversary, we enjoyed the high quality service and exceptional wines. Our 30 plus guests had a great time. The 8 Chains staff set up a nice tent for us and as usual provided friendly and professional service. They even allowed us to stay an extra hour when our guests weren’t ready to leave. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary with our friends. By the way, recently 8 Chains North built an elegant and more intimate party room next to their tasting room. I highly recommend 8 Chains North Winery for hosting large gatherings or just for wine tasting visits.
We visited 8 Chains North this past 4th of July with four other couples. They served BBQ but also allowed cheese plates and other snacks to be brought in from the "outside". The staff was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable and exuded a real family feel throughout our visit. The fenced-in back patio/porch is a bit small with a decent view of the vineyard but the live music was perfect for the venue. The real downer was the amount of flies that kept attacking the food and dive-bombing my wine glass. They were all over and unfortunately fined two glasses of a nice Chardonnay that I was enjoying. I actually like the place and would go back but again I call it a near miss because there are a lot of good things about 8 Chains but some things can be done better. btw - we tasted 7 or 8 wines but only settled on 2; one white and one red.
It's certainly dog friendly, but they aren't inside. I thought the bars were beautiful and the servers knowledgable. Generous pours and no rush. We were very pleased. Make sure to get the chocolate pairing!
We visit a number of wineries in Louden County regularly, but we always end up at 8 Chains North. The atmosphere is understated, but elegant and the staff is second to none! The inside spaces are recently renovated and the covered patio and firepit areas are welcoming. Stop by and say hello to the wonderful folks at 8 Chains!
this place has to be hands down by far the WORST place on the virginia wine circuit. there were more animals here than entire farms. the owners might be pet friendly, but if you want to serve animals then open a frekin Petsmart, and close your winery. they should be embarassed for the smellt fur ridden interior they call a tasting room. one could hardly breathe. just writing this post reminds me of that day which pissed me off greatly. will never ever return, only to watch it be condemned or closed! spare me!
Excellent wine for the red lover! Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating staff. They have a great patio that overlooks the vineyard. In my opinion 8 chains is one of the top 3 wineries in Loudoun.
We stopped at 8 Chains during our day long wine tour. We had Paul as our pourer and he was great! He was funny, laid back, and gave us just the right amount of info we needed (no overkill like some tend to do.) We would go back, mostly because Paul made it a great experience for us. Thank you!
We came to this winery as part of a wine tour. It was our last stop and probably my favorite (they were all good) but this one had the best wine plus the great outdoor/relaxing environment even though it was pretty busy. There was live music by the bar inside. I think it is a popular little gem for the locals because it seemed as though that was all that was there. I will definitely be returning to 8 Chains when I'm back in the DC area.
I was invited to a surprise birthday party for my cousin at 8 Chains North. The location is absolutely beautiful - vineyards, rolling hills and horse pastures. The staff was super friendly. People are welcome to bring their dogs. You could clearly see that everyone was having a great time! Wine was wonderful, setting superb! I will absolutely go back again!!
