We did a canoe excursion in the lagoon and enjoyed in very much. The $15/person price was reasonable and the guides were helpful and knowledgable. And they were concerned about safety, etc. which was very reassuring to us. We chose a canoe trip, but they do kayaks too. We also wandered around on our own after the trip, but that wasn't our focus. But it would be a pleasant and educational experience for all ages, I think. Check their website for trip times and options...reservations are definitely needed and most trips do fill up. I'd recommend it. First Saturday of each month is free admission, too (not free excursions, of course).
we had an overcast day and decided to head to the ECL. We walked the paths and trails and encountered a variety of wild life. There is a story book that kids can follow and read throughout the paths. The highlight is the touch tank where once we washed our hands were able to hold a variety of little creatures, like horseshoe crabs and some urchins. we were able to take a lot of photos and the volunteer here was so willing to share info on them and the Indian River Lagoon itself. The manatee skeleton was amazing to look at also. Will visit again
Had the grand children for a visit. They love this place with all the attractions and helpful volunteers
Outstanding learning experience.Programs are very popular and must make reservations early.Membership is a great deal.
This is a real asset to the area. Their programs for kids and adults are both excellent. It is well worth visiting to find out all the special programs they offer.
Loved the touch tank, story hour, walks and boat dock. Very educational , great peolle all around.Awesome treasure this place is. Be sure to bring drinks and snack , they dont sell food, bring sunscreen. Adults pay 5 bucks and kids are free.
Great place to take children, don't need a tour, self guided. People very helpful with info if needed. Very interesting re the lagoon and wildlife in the area. Good for a beach break. Can rent kayaks or join a trip
It was our first visit and plan to return with kids and grandkids in tow. Great, safe boardwalks through the mangroves. Our 2 yo can run out his energy and then touch the animals in the touch tank.
small, free but good knowledge about our oceans, short film explaining what you will see. They were busy so we were on our own after the film. Could take as long as we wanted.
Fun, educational, and back to nature. A great place and a good cause. First Sat of each month if free.
