Great, out-of-the-way state park. Secluded sites, well maintained. Close to Weston. Quiet. Will definitely return; should be beautiful in the fall.
Beautiful overlook! I could look at the autumn-colored leaves for hours! There are a variety of trails to take here as well.
We have been to this park many times over the years. Great trails, overlooks, etc. Lot of history at this park.
Not a large state park, but worth a trip. It has unpaved hiking trails that wind up and down many tree covered hills. There are a few trails that take you directly to the Missouri river. There is a trail along the bluff of the MO river that has beautiful views of the river and many sights where you can look across into Kansas. during the winter when the leaves are off you can see Leavenworth, KS.Lots of fall leaf colors to view. There are also paved bike paths as well as picnic, camping and playground areas. None of the trails are very long, but there is a lot of variety and a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids either biking or hiking. Easy drive from Kansas City. No entry fee.
We had 6 campsites with 8 couples. We really enjoyed the trails, the shady sites and the quality of the camping experience. Bath house was very clean and recent remodel was appreciated.
After a note back from the ranger after my initial review, we went back and were pleasantly surprised by the park. Although I didn't think the trails were really well marked, we managed and had a great hike anyhow. We intend to go back again now that it's cooler or maybe even a winter hike.
To see how the entire state used to look 400 years ago, have a visit. I grew up inside of it. Then visit Weston and get drunk on the vendors selling "home" brew, home wine, and home 80 proof distillery. Or smoke the illegally grown home pot. Weston Hemp was a huge export for rope a century ago.
Very pretty in the fall. Worth taking a short detour to drive through. There is tobacco barn (with an educational/information board), nice setting for campers, some nice trails (paved and unpaved) and above average outdoor toilet facilities. The best part for us was the short walk to a wonderful scenic view with a surround bench around a tree in the middle. Gorgeous color in the fall.
Beautiful view of the area from the bluffs, and part of a fun day in Weston. Great overlook and little walkway.... There was more to see but we were limited on time.
Had some nice trails, picnic areas. We were too late for the fall colors. Did see a few pretty trees. Nice view of the river. A nice relaxing walk on the different trails.
