The hike sure is terrific! I imagine the views at fall will be spectacular. Unfortunately we were there during summer, but the hike is still the same!
Great view of canyon. Missed fall leaves, but walking the trails ( easy ones ), was great. Will definitely go back in Fall for leaves. When visiting Wellsboro, a do not miss place see.
Beautiful fall foliage. We were lucky to hit peak time. Be sure and check out the films in the visitor center.
We only had time in our trip to go to the main viewing centers, where you can get some beautiful vistas of the “Grand Canyon of the East” from the east rim. There were several viewing platforms, all within a very short distance of each other. The views were wonderful! I do not like heights, or being on an edge; these views were high up, but they were behind high enough fences, that there was no issue. If you're in this part of Pennsylvania, and the park is open, this is a “must see.” There was a vendor there, by the main viewing areas, in a truck-- Miller's Purely Maple; we bought some of their maple syrup, and have not been able to try it yet. But they make real milkshakes; the chocolate was good! My husband tried the maple milkshake, and that was really yummy!
What a nice little park! We didn't have a lot of time & only had a short visit, but the deck & pathways were so convenient, we were still able to really enjoy the canyon. We had packed a picnic lunch & were delighted to see such a great facility for picnics. Clean bathrooms & gift shop were an added surprise. We will definitely be back, hopefully for a weekend trip next time. So much to explore!
Great view of the Grand Canyon. The Turkey trail was amazing and beautiful. Would be nice to have posted direction from this park to Colton Park.
Visited the Pa. Grand Canyon today in high 30 degree temps and high winds. The color is gone from the leaves but such an awesome view!!! Breath taking!!! There are bathrooms ( flush with running water), in season a visitors center. There are pavilions for picnicking, trails for hiking and cement trails to the look outs. There are some shallow steps which might be a bit hard for wheel chairs. Definitely worth seeing! Will be returning in warm weather to experience it then. The hiking trail to the canyon bottom is fairly steep and narrow in places and adequate hiking shoes are recommended.
The snow and ice were thick and all trails closed. However the Overlook was open and that brought the rating up. Go see this in spring or summer.
Dont miss if you are staying in Wellsboro. Great view and very informative ranger. Nice job on walkways
We visited Leonard Harrison State Park first and then went to the other side of the canyon and looked at the view from the Colton Point State Park. The view is amazing! We were there on November 2 so all of the leaves were gone but it was still an amazing view! If you go this time of year - dress warm - there was a very strong wind - but it doesn't detract from the beautiful scenery. We did not hike the paths (were not dressed properly) but the area is beautiful! Definitely worth the trip!
