This church has gorgeous stained glass. It was a nice respite from the heat of the day to walk in and just sit and take it all in. The simplicity of the church is charming.
If you are visiting Old Salem make sure you stop in at Home Moravian church. It is a beautifulhistoric church and was the religious center for the Salem residents. They have events thru-out the year and if you can get there for a Love Feast Candle Tea in December it's an extra treat.
Just beautiful. After seeing how the Moravians lived their Christian life, I would like to visit a Moravian church.
We got there just as the clock winder was going up the tower to wind the clock. So he gave us a private (quick) tour of the church and the clock/bell tower. It was very nice of him to do that. The view from the tower balcony is great.
My ancestors emigrated from Switzerland, and came to N.C. via the "Great Wagon Road" from Pennsylvania in the mid 18th century. They were Moravian, so this church is a special place for me, though we've long since migrated to other religions. Definitely worth a visit.
This is a must see for any traveler at Easter or Christmas. The Sunrise service over God's Acre at Easter and a Christmas Lovefeast are "must do's" in our area.
Located in the Old Salem living history area. Functioning Moravian Church which is gorgeous in its simplicity.
Appreciate that church members staff the church for visitors and share their knowledge of this incredible house of God. Hard to believe the age of this church. Stunning architecture, really enjoyed our visit.
It's not a large church but it's well maintained and the interior is inviting and bright. The pews are set in a semi-circle design, a nice change from the traditional horizontal setting. The church is open at various times for the public to visit and often has a docent available to give you some history.
This is a Beautiful, Old Fashioned, Wooden Church. You must go at Christmas time for the Moravian Love Feast.
