Top notch...greens perfect along with the fairways...rough was high due to rain and we lost some balls...oh well...Very nice day with my son...priceless;>
nice views, good beer selection, cool building with lots of locally used natural resources. close to wintergreen
Leaves, not only in the boundaries, but in the long rough made it tough to find anything not in the fairway.
The only negative thing I can say about Devil's Knob is that this is only the second time I have played this mountaintop gem. But that is my fault. Conditions in 2013 look to be as perfect as they were last year. The greens were said to be about "two weeks away"...they were the best greens I've putted on since I last played here. This place is top shelf! If there is a better golfing experience around I haven't found it yet.
My husband has traveled the world and golfed all over. He gave high marks to Devils Knob. The concept of a family lesson and nine holes with the kids is wonderful. My girls always goofed around with Daddy's clubs but could never golf with him, until now. Thank you for allowing them to share some special time together!
Enjoyed this course and the other course on several occasions. We always enjoy going there and have brought friends on several occasions.
Nice atmosphere, excellent ribs and wonderful music.
It's target golf at its finest. Beautiful scenery at every turn & a gold course in spectacular shape.
Devils Knob is a very well maintained mountain course in the Wintergreen, VA ski resort. As would be expected, the course has a number of elevation changes being on the mountain. Also as to be expected, because this is primarily a ski resort there are a number of homes and condos lining the course. The course is rather short and tight, so driver is really not needed. I found the course to be very well maintained, but in the end I really prefer a more open course (a course with more land available to plot the holes). Putting is difficult because of the various elevation changes that are not always obvious while standing on the on the greens. Bottom line...it's a nice course given what was there to work with....not my particular cup of tea however...
I stayed at the Wintergreen resort on a stay and play package. It was a great deal. The golf course is magnificant. I played Devils Knob which is the members course but you get access to it by staying at the resort. The golf course is tough, cut through the trees, up and down the mountain, and visually very pleasing. The best part of the golf course was the greens, they were perfect. By that I mean smooth, fast (STMP of 11), and lots of blades per square inch. I don't think they could be much better. You need to be paying attention to the slope or you will look silly. I highly recommend this place. What a surprise.
