My boyfriend and I came down to Holgate for my birthday weekend. We indulged in the spa and facial overnight package and I cannot lie... It was probably one of the best times we've ever had. The spa treatment was heavenly and we were treated like royalty. Then over at hogate the staff were so friendly, helpful and just joyous to be around. The food was incredible, as was the beer.(obviously.. We are huge fans of hogate...) The value for money was seriously ridiculous. I highly reccomend this for your next weekend getaway!!
Had a nice lunch at the Holgate Brewhouse with another couple on a Saturday. The place was quite busy and the service, while a tad cavilier, was ok. We all ordered the Beef in Stout pie and the waitress duly informed us we had to go to the bar to order. Quite an amusing system although she might have had a memory problem. Washed down with a nice bottle of Rose' the total bill was $120 so certainly not expensive for four adults.
Never ventured to this pub when it was keatings but it has definitely transformed from its old days. Holgates brewery is worth a visit. The locally made beer is very nice and my husband was quite impressed. The food is equally as good. My husbands steak was large and cooked to his liking and the veggie burger with crispy chips was equally as nice. We would return. There is also outdoor seating available.
Went for a quick road trip for lunch and a few beers on the Queen's birthday. The place was very busy. It took a good amount of time to get a beer and the wait for food was lengthy. That being said, the quality of the food did not suffer. Lunch was very good. Another bartender pulling drafts would have been a good idea. There was also arts festival going on so I think my experience with the delays isn't the norm.
'Devilled' steak with pepper sauce = steak covered with pepper, with pepper sauce, garnished with pepper. We sent it back as inedible, and were thrown a few drinks for free. Fine. BUT, this steak has been reviewed as horrible by diners prior to me and they still choose to keep it on their menu.If you're going to give a meal a title that doesn't describe the meal accurately, then seriously, why bother!? Let's face it kids, if a meat's flavour is lost, then the meal is lost.Go the booze, not the overpriced food.
We went with friends for a Saturday lunch. The choice of local beers was very good each time we go my husband tries different ones. The meals are good value and quiet tasty although we did laugh that we all ordered different meals and they all came out with the same coloured gravy on them . Even though they tasted different. It would have made for a better appearance on the table if our meals had more colour instead of the brown gravy. Also our entrees arrived at the same time as our meals .
We called on the Saturday night the Eagles were playing at Hanging Rock. It was busy! This did not phase the staff, of which there were plenty to cater for the needs of all the customers. We had the pie and chips, it was delicious, we would recommend a visit to the pub where Holgates beer is still brewed on the premises
This has become a regular favourite of ours. Located in a gorgeous area, the brewhouse has friendly staff, a fine selection of onsite brewed beers plus wines etc and a great menu with specials also. Outdoor seating is small but nice depending on time of year. Inside they cater well for families and other groups too plus a bar area for those just trying a pint. Can get very busy on certain days/weekends eg Father's Day etc so book ahead.
I stopped their for a break with my family. Their own beer is very tasty and the food was well loved my kids. They also served salads as an alternative to the traditional pub food. We will be back.
Holgate brewhouse was really popular on the day of our visit, for lunch, but the service was pretty good, except for almost forgetting our coffees! My husband enjoyed the brewer's lunch while I tucked into a very generous ploughman's lunch and a local wine. I'm not a beer drinker, but could go for the temptress. My husband enjoyed the beers very much.
