Have a walk around it. It is worth visiting the old part of Ulm. You will have the chance to feel the atmosphere of old times and take some beautiful photos. So walk through the narrow streets, beside the river and the pretty old houses
I bet there are some English structures just as crooked but Guinness allows this to be called the most crooked/leaning hotel. It's interesting to see but somewhat overrated. We didn't go in; I have no information about its quality as a hotel, just as a building seen from the outside. The area is very picturesque and well worth wandering about it.
What can you say, there are not many areas like the Fischerviertel and Danube areal to go for a lovely walk on a sonny afternoon if you need a break from shopping.
Came across this building whilst walking through Ulm. Although we did not go inside, we found it absolutely fascinating
The "schiefes Hause" is a charming small, timber framed house built in the 14th century and maybe the attraction no. 1 in Ulm's old fishermen's quarter. It is a leaning house that has been converted into a hotel (www.hotelschiefeshausulm.de) and is located at the foot of the roman town walls. Its leaning position, which gives it its name and gives the impression that the house is about to fall into the water any minute, arises from the extremely wide, sloping supporting beams, which extend over the river.I recommend to see it as part of a visit to the romantic Ulm's fishermen's quarter. The address is Schwörhausgasse 6 - 89073 Ulm.
The most crooked hotel in the world according to the Guinness book of Records. I didn't go inside at all but from the outside it is stunning. The leaning of the building is so noticeable as one end actually seems to be falling into the stream that runs past! Every window is adorned with brightly coloured flowers and it certainly is a sight worth seeking out.
Stayed there a couple of times. It's a hoot. The floors are slanted and the beds have a water scale to assure you, that you won't fall out of bed. Beautifully appointed modern rooms and bathrooms. Great breakfast. If you cannot stay there (it is booked way in advance) you must visit and look at it from the outside. It is a tourist attraction. Centuries have settled the house and it appears to shift on one side (it is rock solid), hence "Schiefes Haus", which means slanted or crooked
Please go and have a wander around this lovely part of Ulm. It is within the walled part of Ulm and some of the houses are on stilts as they sit above the water. A shear delight to see.
Fun and quirky place to stay! Well worth a look around. If you plan to sleep in Ulm, this is the place. Terrific breakfast, great location, nice service. We stayed in room 11. This is the entire top floor, in the A-frame peak. Not sure a tall person can make it up the stairs without banging ones head. Even all 5'2" me bonked myself a few times.Great for short people, but maybe if you are tall you should ask for a different room.
The Schiefes Haus is an original building located in the Fisherman's Quarter. The house is tilted so far that it leans over the river. It is now used as a hotel that would be an excellent place to stay and experience how the beds have different lengths of legs so that the bed is level for sleeping.
