The Utah Shakespeare Festival (also reviewed in Trip Advisor as The Adams Theater) is an excellent regional theater which has productions during the summer season (6 plays during June - August) and fall season (3 plays during September and October). You don't have to be a fan of Shakespeare to find an enjoyable play. The fall season usually has 2 contemporary plays and 1 Shakespeare play. This place is a great treat and not far from Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park. Visitors to these parks should plan at least a one day trip and enjoy two plays (afternoon and evening). This is also an easy overnight trip from Las Vegas. Drive up Friday afternoon, see the Friday evening show and then do one or two plays on Saturday. Keep in mind, the theater is dark on Sundays. NOT TO BE MISSED -- enjoy the entertaining play orientation held one half hour before the evening play or the excellent literary seminars at 9 am on the day after the play. These offer intelligent discussions regarding the productions and sometimes feature a guest appearance from the actors or dramaturge (expert). During the summer productions they also have the entertaining Green Show outdoors before the evening productions. The theater also offers backstage tours and other seminars. You can enjoy a real theater immersion. While visiting Cedar City, enjoy a stay at one of the wonderful B&Bs.
What a surprise! To find Broadway caliber acting and productions in the hinterlands of rural Utah! The Utah Shakespeare Festival productions are of the highest quality and professionalism -- not to mention flat out entertaining. This festival was won a prestigious Toni Award for best regional theater. If you attend, you'll quickly understand why. It's unsurpassed!
A great play at the Shakespearean festival. We laughed and laughed and laughed.. Get your tickets early. The place was packed for a Friday afternoon play.
Unbelievable that such quality theater is way out here in Southern Utah. I love NYC, and love the theater. If you're within 500 miles, this is worth the trip! It equals and betters any regional theater I've seen.
Thanks for your review. While we still don't refund tickets, we will exchange tickets if your plans change - either into other tickets or a credit for future tickets.
We were in Cedar City for its' outdoor activities and proximity to National Parks and had not intended to go to any shows. We stayed at a B&B where everyone was seeing something, so we decided to check it out and enjoyed 2 shows - Sherlock Holmes and Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Both were really good, and we were so glad we took advantage of this great event.
If you like Shakespeare, this is great. It is professional performance, and we pack six shows into four day. The theaters are adequate, and new facilities are now under construction. Ticket prices are moderate, and there are enough hotels in town.
Thanks for your comments. The week you mentioned, when you will be able to see all three NAPP plays, will be August 26-27-28, 2015. See you this summer!
Fantastic location - you can see the Utah Shakespeare grounds from their front yard. Very nice rooms, clean and interesting. Wonderful breakfast with homemade warm pumpkin scones with homemade pumpkin butter and real whipped cream!
The actors stayed in character, and did a phenomenal job in every show. I saw all of them and was not disappointed with any of them.
