The indian institute of advanced study is located inside the Viceregal lodge which is beautiful built and well maintained, the amazing teak wood work is worth visiting, there is a library inside which is opened only for the researchers but not for the tourists. But you will be amazed looking at the infrastructure. Kudos to the team for maintaining it so well!!!
Excellent place for photography freaks. Amazing interiors. Better to go there in time to avoid long waiting queues.
I was stunned to see this placed, I can't put this in words but I will say this MUST VISIT, otherwise you miss a huge thing
This place is a perfect place for high and quality learning, also good efforts of government to keep this place active and live. It is good to learn past about Shimla history. needs little more efforts to keep this place more maintained and income generator for the administration. good luck
I visited this place under heavy Snowfall. Most enjoyable walk from my hotel Landmark to this place. It's hardly 2 kms from my hotel. All time big name of Indian History have visited this place. You will feel the vibrations of all big name like Gandhiji, Sardar, Nehru and all who took active part against and with english rule. I have seen the table on which partition of India-Pakistan draft was discussed and signed. In fact we can touch such historic items. The wall clock even after more then 100 years of operation is still working...Lovely...

The architecture of this massive property built in 1888 is amazing ! It still has functioning fire fighting systems with sprinklers and recycled rainwater stored underground ! The history speaks for itself once one enters the museum with the guide who narrates you the past. The photo gallery is rich and informative. This is a place which one must visit when in Shimla. The building was the Rastrapati Niwas during summer till 1965 when the then President of India donated it for Advanced Studies.
The collection and the property is really awesome. The authenticity of the collectibles and the overall experience to go through the freedom movement of India is really amazing.
Indian institute of advance study also known as residence of president when he/she comes to visit Shimla. It is basically a place where student who wish to pursue their advance studies come. The building was made during the time of britisher's and now also has become a tourist spot.
If you are in Shimla and havent visited this building then you have missed one of the prime attractions of shimla. An integral part of Indian history and being the first building in India to be equipped with electricity, u feel like you have travelled back in time to colonial era. the building in itself is majestic and the work done both on outsied and inside is quite astounding.
