Its just a magic place, the most western part of continental europe. You just need to sit there, watch the nature and imagine, that the next into west is just 6000km atlantic. You should have a car to visit it!
No comment but go and see yourself. Is a great CABO and you "feel " the Atlantic Ocean. Big waves on the rocks.
Was part of our Sintra tour and I must admit we wondered where the .... were we going!? But once there the views are amazing. Western most point of Europe. Didn't have time to wander much but just along the top on the paths were worth it.
We visited on a day with no wind, which I believe is quite rare. Lovely views and a sense of peace. Worth a stop.
The day we visited Cabo da Roca it was so misty that we could see virtually nothing so was a huge dissapointment.
Cabo de Roca have breath taking views as I mentioned. It was winter time when we visited, so it was very foggy. And you will see the eyes of heaven as they call it, where there is sunlight from the heavens toughing only a specific spot in the sea. Mstycal and enchanting beauty. But please dont be stupid to get out of the barriers. Very dangerous place because the cliffs are very steep.
We were recommended to visit by a wine merchant in Lisbon city centre and were really glad we took his advice. You drive down a side road from the main coast road leaving Cascais and arrive eventually at a car park underneath the lighthouse. A cross marks the Cabo da Roca itself and a short walk around gives you pretty good views along the coast. We were there quite early on a Sunday morning and were able to enjoy the calm before lots of bikers and tourist buses descended. There is also a cafe and toilets located at a discreet distance. Watch out for the tourists dicing with death by climbing over the railings for their photo opportunities!
