Lighthouse Park has always been a favourite of mine for a walk through the woods followed by a picnic on the rocks watching the boats go by. If it is a nice day, get there early to get a place to park or take the bus.
This park is very accessible, even by bus. The walking trails are both easy and more challenging, depending which route you take. Make sure you see the view of Howe Sound, incredible!
A beautiful spot to walk your dog, stroll with your family and enjoy the old growth forest, views and lighthouse.
A beautiful park and trails in West Van. Great place to get outside and some fresh air. Make sure to walk all the way to the rocks, where you can see it more open and across the bay.
Such an amazing park, it was my first time visiting and I was very surprised. The views of Vancouver and the ocean are unreal especially on a clear day. It was a little disappointing that you can't go anywhere near the lighthouse though but still a great place to go for a walk/hike. However, I hope you don't have to use the bathroom! The outhouses were closed, the bathrooms were disgusting and in desperate need for some attention. Not enough facilities on a busy day
Just be ready to get a little muddy if you stray off the main path to the Pt Atkinson Lighthouse...you'll enjoy the experience no matter which trail you take!
You won't find many hiking trails better than this one, right in the middle of a suburb! Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver has some very nice old growth tree trails, a scenic lighthouse and lots of great coastal views and sea critters to check out along the way. The trails are not very difficult and are great for all ages.
The area is so big and not many people around ,great for nature ,the lighthouse area is a great view of Vancouver
This is the best place near Vancouver to see what the forests of the area would have looked like before logging. Big old growth trees on a moderate walk down to the ocean bluffs with wonderful views out across Vancouver and over to Vancouver Island.Be sure to take some of the side trail loops and not just the main road from parking lot to ocean. Especially recommend the valley of the giants trail which loops down to the ocean. Big old growth Douglas Fir and Cedar trees.
The lighthouse park is located in the very west part of the great city of Vancouver.I went there with some friends because we found out about this place a few days before; it was described as a " a great sunset spot". We arrived there a little bit late so we were pretty sure that the sun had already disappeared, but when we crossed the Point Atkinson ( and his beautiful lighthouse ) a magnificent show was offered to us: to sun was still in the sky and it was breathtaking! That place was effectively one of the best sunset spot IN vancouver! But pay attention guys! To get the chance to have a perfect sunset like I had, the view has to be very clear. And there is a slightly probability that it happens unfortunately...But the park is still awesome !
