Our young family of four enjoyed the interactive sheep shearing and dog display with the highlight for the children bottle feeding the lamb. The farmer was informative, friendly and humorous and he was able to interact with all types of personalities. We definitely recommend the Yallingup Shearing Shed to all groups. Be sure to check the show time prior to going.
Very educational and entertaining for both adults and children. Entry fee of A$10 (adults) and A$5 (kids) is well worth it for the sheep shearing demo, watching the sheep dogs in action, the bottle feeding and learning some interesting facts on sheep farming etc. Audience gets to participate in some of the acts as well. We all get to keep a little merino wool as souvenir!
The trip to the Yallingup Shearing Shed was one of the highlights of our trip to Western Australia. The live demonstration and hands-on experience were so much fun. We got to feed the adult sheep outside in the pen, bottle-feed the lambs and even hold them! The shearer giving the presentation was outstanding and had a dry humor that my husband and I got a kick out of. He let us take a piece of the freshly shaven wool home. We will never forget this day! Take the whole family!
Love this, from feeding sheep out the front to watching the live shearing show, watching working sheepdogs in action and bottle feeding a lamb. Owner has great sense of humour and involves the visitors - making for a more enjoyable show. Educational and fun for all ages. Wool products are excellent too - good selection and great for gifts. well worth a visit for little and big kids alike.
We only turned in on the spur of the moment while driving back up to Perth. Boy! Did we appreciate it. The live show was well worth the cost. Including food to feed the sheep in front of the shop, hour long live demonstration. Live demo included the history behind sheep farming & wool works in Australia, demo of how the Australian kelpie would round up the sheep etc. The sheep shearer was also very entertaining. The shop also sells some really good merino wool products.
We came here with the family for the second time this year and it was just as good as the first time! Lots of interesting facts, great entertainment and interactive for kids and adults. Would highly recommend for any visitors to the area.
We recently took an exchange student around the South West and this was his favourite stop. Kids get to feed pellets to ewes and milk to lambs. The shearer puts on a great show, buzzing hand pieces, kelpies running on sheep in the yards and all that. He also provides information about the wool industry in an entertaining way. Even sends the punters away with a wool sample from the fleece they've just seen shorn. About an hour show all up. Great value at $5 for kids. Shop has a good range of fairly priced wool garments.
A must to visit. The shop is part of the family shearing shed so the smell of the sheep and fleece adds to the experience. Great quality woollen clothes, socks, scarves, hats etc You'll find something you love for sure in winter. Great clothes for men as well. Ugg boots for all the family. Enjoy
This star of this attraction is really the sheep shearing - other than that, there's nothing much to do except feed the sheep at the entrance and shop at the boutique store. The group size wasn't very big when we went, so we were pleasantly surprised that our kids were able to participate in some of the activities like wool pressing and bottle feeding the lambs. The sheep shearing session was very informative and interactive, and costs less than other similar attractions.
My family of four adults and a child visited the Yallingup Shearing Shed located at Lot 1442, Wildwood Road, Yallingup, South West Australia. Yallingup Shearing Shed is about 40 minutes’ drive from the Margaret River or 35 minutes from Busselton.Yallingup Shearing Shed operates the Merino Wool Fashion Store which sells a wide range of men and women clothing, footwear and accessories. The Live Show conducted at the Yallingup Shearing Shed which is the crowd puller is very lively and educational. The show covers sheep shearing, sheep dogs mustering the sheep and bottle feeding baby lambs. The owner Steve demonstrated his skill in sheep shearing and shared his knowledge of the wool industry with the audience with ease. We enjoyed the Live Show at Yallingup Shearing Shed very much. Worth a visit if you are exploring the Margaret River Region.
